Personal Narrative: Being Bullied In The United States

Improved Essays
Rough draft I use to live in many different countries. It was hard for me trying to learn the language because we would only stay in a country for like a year. I lived in Iraq where i was born for about eight years only. Then from there i moved to Greek which i lived there for about two years which wasn’t a really long time. After that it was when i moved here which was the best decision me and my family made. My family and i have been here for almost about ten years. When i first got here people viewed me so different. It was like i wasn’t a human like them. I would always get bullied when i went to school. I started school here when i was in fourth grade. I even got held back a year where i had to do fourth grade twice. Yet that wasn’t so fun but at the same time i thought it was better for me. I was bullied throughout middle school. The year i got bullied the most was in seventh grade. It would all happen in p.e. These girls that were in my p.e class hated me for some reason. Then they made up this thing where they said i was saying stuff about them that weren’t so nice. Ever since that day i would get bullied. I would always ditch that class because of what they were doing to me that i couldn’t take and was also scared because i did not really have anyone and was scared to tell the teacher. …show more content…
I made them stop by the time i got to eighth grade. I was also bullied because of the way i would speak i did not know very well english and they would laugh at me for it. At the end of the day it did not bother me i was ok with it. That was because i knew i was learning and they were just like my motivators at the end of the day. I mean like i’m not going to say it did not bother me at all it did but not as much as it seems but everyone must of the time get thru

I was bullied but not like Paul Logan”s bully who taunted him with name like “nerd, geek, loser” ( Logan page 9) The bully I had was a bit more subtle like a cat before he pounces. I did not even see it coming .They would insult me to my face and leave before I even realized what had happened.…

I wrote more on the issue "Why We Hate The Smart Kids" by Grant Penrod. I'm going to argue with the author on this one because I agree with everything he is trying to teach us in this article. For many students in high school or even college, it's the best time for them, most of them only come for the sports or the debate teams. In any high school, there are many different groups like; the jocks, the boring kids, the stoners, and the nerds. Out of all the groups I have said the one that gets the most heat are the nerds.…

Even being an American has it’s problems. Especially coming from a Hispanic background. I was born in South Carolina, when I was five years old barely starting Kindergarten, my parents decided a big change for my brothers and I. We moved to Mexico, we lived there for about three years I started school there, so I never really had the chance on learning English. After I started going to school in Mexico, my parents decided to come back to South Carolina. That’s when everything was confusing, I didn’t speak any English which was very terrifying to me.…

Arabic, my second language gave me difficulty as a child as for that, I spoke English more for that reason and another reason was that I was in America at the time. I was called in American in Egypt a lot because I traveled from America to Egypt and when I went back to America I was called an Egyptian. Incidents like this were luckily few and far between, but almost everything you deal with helps shape who you become. I also dealt with a fair amount of bullying; most children went to school together from kindergarten to whatever grade we were in at the time, so I, always being the new kid, was the outcast. I learned…

"Adversities can foster hope, and resilience. " This quote can be applied to many people's lives; points in their lives where they put out their best when they are faced with great challenges. I can apply this quote to my immigration from Kyrgyzstan to America. The reason I am describing this point in my life with this quote is because of the different adversities that have come with assimilating into a whole a new culture, country, and people. I first left for America with my family nearly a decade ago.…

For me, it was not as serious as it could have been, unlike others who have experienced more physical or harsher verbal abuse by the bully. Fortunately, I was able to conquer my fears of going out and became more outgoing and did not let anything hold me back, whether I was playing sports or at work or just out with friends. Life is too short to be in constant fear or worry. When I got to high school I thought things were going to get worse, but because I was able to overcome, I achieved many of the goals that I strove to reach for like: getting high-honors all four years, winning two-state titles as a three-year starter in baseball, and making memories with friends that accepted me for who I am. In the end I do not regret anything and I believe that with the right support from family and friends anyone can learn to ignore the hate and strive to achieve anything they set their mind…
