Decent Essays
Thirty- Two out of 1000 people in the world are twins. I am one of those 32 people. Some people think that just because you’re twins you have some type of twin telepathy. Sadly it is not true, well at least with my brother and I. People always ask “ what’s it like, being a twin?” Honestly it is just like having any other siblings. Except you share a birthday, and for some that’s a big no. That’s one of the things they cherish being the only child born on that day. I don’t have any other siblings that are around my age. My older brother is 9 years older than I am, so I don’t know what it’s like not being a twin sibling. Actually all of my cousins that are the same age as I am are born in February. Many people, at some point in their lives, wish for a twin brother or sister, but they don’t truly understand the difficulties and bond of having a life-long partner. Consequently, a lot of twins struggle to establish themselves; however, a twin’s perspective of identity is completely different from that of singletons.…

I am a middle child. I was born two years after my sister Meredith, and Caleigh came six years after me. Within my family and friends, I am known as the quiet, quintessential middle child. For the first 16 years of my life, I was always an afterthought to the craziness of the first-born and the baby of the family, and I loved it‒ it made me independent and self-reliant. I was very comfortable being the easy-going child, happily accepting anything that came my way.…

A lot of people think just because you’re an identical twin, that you must be the same in every aspect of your life as the other person. In my case, and in others, being an identical twin doesn’t prove that we are the same in all areas of life. I have an identical twin sister, named Emily. Emily is pessimistic, high maintenance and very well organized. I, on the other hand, am more optimistic, open-minded and easygoing.…

When I was fifteen years old, I realized God intended my sister and me to be twins. We were worshipping in the Georgia Dome to the music of a praise band and I realized we were standing the same exact way. I had my hands raised, eyes closed, face to the sky and sure enough, she was in the exact same position. Standing with our feet apart and swaying back and forth, we were both singing in voices that had always sounded alike. Sure there were events leading up to this that made me think we were alike but having this realization made me positive that we were supposed to be twins.…
