I have found myself to be in various leadership roles throughout my life. I was class president for three years in high school. I was captain of the Varsity Tennis team my senior year of high school. In college I founded the first Bollywood dance team at the University of Vermont and was President until I graduated in May 2015. With each role I have learned different skills but the most important being that a good leader must listen without judgment.…
Anyone can be a leader. The most challenging part of being a leader is being courageous. To step up above the rest and take charge. Being a leader does not mean being the most popular or the best at something, its about being able to do whats right for the group as a whole. Having to lead can sometimes mean being an outsider, and stepping away from the crowd to lead a lost group into the right direction.…
When I was in High School, I performed as Beta Club president for two years. While president, the Beta Club complete many project including a donation to Heifer International. How we were going to raise donations was left to decide between myself and the rest of the Beta Club officers, so all final decisions and deadlines were mine to decide. To raise money, we had each Homeroom class compete against each other to see who could raise the most money. During the semester, we held an event where classes competed in games against each other, and the winners won so much money to help them win the prize.…
I honestly did not believe that I was nor did I carry myself as a leader until I got to Wilson High School. In middle school, at church, and within the different programs I am a part I was given leadership positions and was “successful” in them but Wilson High School and its community have taught me what it truly means to be a successful leader. A large part of my high school career has been dedicated to the cheerleading program here at Wilson High School. This is the aspect of my life that has developed my leadership skills such as communication, patience, innovation, flexibility, planning and much more. My coaches, teachers, and teammates have all pushed me to become the leader that I am.…
The first time I was seen as a leader was in my junior year where I was first placed in the varsity team, with this came my ability to encourage, support and be a good resource for other team members.…
A leader’s job is to inspire others and make them feel good about themselves and others. Being a leader at Union Middle School is important to me because I feel like i can inspire others. I plan to impact the…
Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…
As a leader, you must be a positive role model for those around you. I help the other members of my section when they are struggling and maintain my own responsibilities. I started off the school year terrified to be a leader both in music and as an…
I have exhibited the four levels of National Honor Society by the extracurricular activities I am in and in my academics. I express scholarship as I have excellent grades and towards the end of my sophomore year I had received an academic letter. Through leadership I have helped others in schoolwork, cheerleading, and I have pushed others in cross country and track. With cross country I may not be much of a leader in practice, but I am a strong leader when it comes to supporting everyone in their races. Also many people come to me for help for they trust me and rely on my knowledge.…
People ask me what a leader is, my answer would be someone helpful to others, determined, has confidence in others as well as herself and has a positive attitude. Today, I represent the AVID class of 2018 as a president. I set myself as a role model as well as a leader. I and my peers organized fundraisers to benefit for our future. We are scholars that help to build confidence as to speak with their mind and have their voice heard.…
My mother always told me, "Always be leader, never a follower", that is what I did. Growing up in school, teachers encouraged group work and I always took charge. That is where my leadership qualities began. Around age eight, I joined cheer because the sport requires leaders. Cheerleaders lead the crowd, lead the team, and overall, we lead the culture of spirit.…
Being a leader is a role I play every day, whether it is in school or at…
Whether it's being a member or an officer of an extra curricular activity, I have learned what it means to be a leader through volunteer work, planning school activities, and participating in multiple community activities.…
Being a leader doesn’t mean you have to be the best it just means you have to want other people to become better and are willing to help them as well as yourself. Taking a role in something that will help even one person can mean so much and give you greater things in return. Just knowing that you helped and taught someone to make them a better person should be a wonderful accomplishment. A leader does not mean you have to go and do something outrageous; the little things mean more than the big once in a while. Last…
Someone who brings out the best in others. The point of a leader is not to be in command and to have followers. The point of being a leader is to motivate others, to encourage them and inspire others to be positive leaders as well. Throughout my life I’ve had leadership roles in extracurricular activities and in the classroom.…
