I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

This year has been a crazy one. I came from a public school, not knowing anyone, so I terrified and didn't know what to expect. I struggled with trusting others, time management and battling multiple tasks at once. Luckily, I had a lot of practice throughout the year. For instance when we had to record a News Show for Mr.Mora's class, I was faced with all of these problems.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

When I was in middle school, I tapped my pencil on my desk, bounced around in my seat, and spoke to my friends in class. I never realized how much it really affected my classroom performance. However, as I grew up and matured I took a step back and asked myself, “Why am I doing these things?” I realized that I was nervous about doing well due to my lack of confidence and I was only being provocative. I have noticed that you share the characteristic of being clamorous in class as well.…

Twenty some years ago, in search of freedom from a communist country, a war-torn Vietnam sent my parents to America. Unable to continue their high school education, they found themselves working as laborers in a wintry Tyson Fresh Meats. Living in America, my parents were comparable to children, often rely on my brothers and me. Because I was sheltered by parents who weren’t accustomed to the foreign culture and had limited language skills, I didn’t know beyond their knowledge before I began school. As the middle child of immigrant parents, I inherited three English words: yes, no, and hello. Sweaty palms, stomach butterflies, and teary eyes – mentally preparing for the first day of Kindergarten was obnoxiously nerve-wracking.…

My teaching philosophy is based on my beliefs as to what skills are necessary to become a proficient professional. With regards to the students I serve, I have attempted to incorporate these underlying beliefs in my teaching practices to enhance the learning environment and foster the development of competent and compassionate physicals therapists. While providing foundational knowledge is important, there are other essential lessons that a student requires in order to successfully transition from being a student to becoming a physical therapy professional. These lessons include teaching a student how to think critically and to interact effectively with patients and other health care practitioners.…

To this day, I remember my kindergarten teacher Ms.Karagarto. Even though I was obviously very young when she taught me, I still remember how great of both a teacher and person she was. When I left Kindergarten, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher because of her and to this day I haven’t changed my mind about it. Whenever I go home to Houston and am in the area, I always make it a priority to go by her classroom and visit her. Since I was young, I have spent both my school years and summers babysitting and nannying, and both of these things have shown me that I absolutely love spending my time with and interacting with children.…
