Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been in volleyball. I’ve meet and played with many other teammates. I’ve also learned from them, even when we we’re different we would put aside our differences and bring teamwork to the table. Number one rule in being different is to never give up on yourself or change. All my life I’ve learned to interact with teammates that are very different from me. They have different ways of seeing things, their attitudes, their teamwork, etc. Once I joined in middle school it was not as hard as it seemed. The girls I was put with seemed difficult to get along at first, once we spent most of our time together it all ended falling into place. I learned to never give up even when I would spend most of the time being on the bench, until we were winning that’s when I would play, but I didn’t mind it. I would always be there for them when they needed a hand. Motivation is what kept me going and what kept them going when I would cheer them up …show more content…
It made me wonder if I was good enough, if I ever was going to play. My freshmen year when I joined volleyball I struggled to get along with the girls, because they didn’t come from the same middle school as me, they were rivals in middle school, they were so used to winning and being on top. They would always play since they would never be on the bench like me, when all I would do is cheer up my teammates. As I improved and showed my Coach I can play, it was hard for me to adjust to the ways they played. All the practices we had made me into a better player. Sophomore year was the year I proved everyone who doubted me wrong. From not playing my freshmen year, I got moved to Varsity. No one thought I would ever make it that far. I wouldn’t play much but when I would play I had the chance to play more than some seniors in the team. Everyone ended up getting along with me and we ended up having a great team and very successful

Volleyball helped me to develop my leadership skills. During practices, I was a leader by helping people better their skills when I see them having a hard time. Volleyball has taught me how to receive and give constructive criticism. It is important to know how to do this because you do not want to put someone down when you are trying to help them, as well as being able to listen to others to help myself. During games, I was a leader because when the team was down I would try to cheer everyone up.…

My classroom procedures are very clear, which the class has become familiar with over the semester. Students are to come in from their special class and grab their materials and go sit on the carpet and get ready for math to begin. These are expectations that should be memorized by now. Many of them do this and it contributes to the flow of the classroom and the engagement level of the entire groups. Students are expected to pay attention to the speaker during the mini-lesson by facing their way and not playing with any other items.…

I began high school playing volleyball, and as the season came to an end, I was uncertain of my next step. Many friends encouraged me to do winter track, but I was very hesitant. One day after school, I timidly approached the coach to introduce myself and get a feel for the team. To my surprise he was the upperclassmen psychology teacher; he read right through me. He told me I would be a good addition to the team, so I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go out for the team.…

Scholastic Scrimmage is a supportive community of scholars who always look forward to challenging themselves every week at practices and at competitions. My love of Scholastic Scrimmage comes not only from the competitive fun but also from this group of intellectuals who want to continuously find the limits of their knowledge and break those limits. The only problem was that these scholars did not feel bound together as a unit/club and the chemistry between us was low. I became captain of the varsity team in my junior year and have since worked to increase this collaborativeness by establishing that players would be on the same teams in practices and competitions to grow as units instead of free radicals with no direction. This creates…

In high school, it can seem like the most important thing in life. I, fortunately, was involved in many other activities to fill up my time. I could not play volleyball my sophomore or junior year. This really upset me because I love the sport. While sitting on the side lines, I had a decision to make: sit here bitterly and wish I could be playing, feeling sorry for myself, or cheer my team on and try to be a positive impact on them.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…
