I completed every obstacle and acquired information as to how the college system works. One college advisor in particular made this possible for me and helped me throughout the whole process. My early thought process hoisted the idea to apply to a community college and transfer out after two years. I possessed this mindset because my father had been laid off from work, and my family bore financial instability. Then I learned about Universities of California, California State Universities and college grants. My advisor tried to encourage me to attend a University of California, but I did not want to face huge loans and opted out to attend a cheaper school with a quality education. I came across Long Beach State as a choice due to a conversation I had with one of my friends at the time. She had planned to attend the school and major in Criminal Justice. With additional research, it became the school I aspired to attend. I felt that the school stood far enough to experience something new and close enough for me to continue to be a strong role model for my younger siblings. Long Beach State was the first college I applied to. As for picking a major, I picked Psychology and
