Personal Narrative: Are Servants Allowed Their Own Mate

Rae was appalled at Shadow’s answer, and felt she must say something. “Shadow, are there Mates that dismiss their Servants with a wave of their hand as if they’re better than the Servant?”
Shadow sadly nods his head yes, and sighed. “There are those from the medieval times that feel they are above the Servant, and a few from modern times that let their new life status go to their head.” Rae could hear the sadness in his voice.
Rae told him in a firm yet shaky voice, one that Shadow would soon relate to anger. “I don’t care what anyone says, that behavior will not happen in this household. You can tell your Master that I will not put up with that type of conduct to anyone I care for.”
She started shaking her finger at the door across the

Rae thought it was his eyes; they were light green similar to sea glass. His hair was baby white, and cut short he used gel to spike it up. Unlike River’s white skin Shadow had an olive color to his skin as if he worked out in the sun.
“Shadow, can I ask you another question before I go to bed?” Shadow stopped straightening the room and listened. Rae realized he was standing at attention, and she continued. “Are Servants allowed their own Mate?”
Shadow didn’t appear sad when he confided his needs. “No, we are not similar to the Vampires or the humans for that matter; we don’t have the same needs. We need an agape love from the one that mate with our Master. Not all Servants are as lucky as I.”
He gave her a smile that was awfully sweet she wanted to pinch his cheeks, however she didn’t want to embarrass him. Shadow continued. “As I explained earlier, a few of the Mates feel they are above the Servant, and when that happens the Servant doesn’t achieve the bond that they need to be happy. Unfortunately it happens too often, and there is nothing that the Servant can do.”
Rae had tears in her eyes as she ran over and hugged Shadow telling him she would always be there for him. “You will never be lonely again not as long as there is breath in this

He realized he had somewhat glamourized it over time with day dreaming of how perfect it would be however, reality was hitting him. Taking on a Mate for his Master would be a responsibility beyond the fun and games he daydreamed of. He would be obligated to think of someone other than his Master. He would be worrying over her all the time. This feeling of protectiveness was strong.
As he stood watching her sleep, he had a startled thought he realized he too would feel her every emotion during the bonding transformation. He had heard stories were Servants turned on their Master’s, and tried to claim the Mate for their own. He must continue to remember this bonding was not his Master’s fault, and that the fault lay on the head of Saint Valentine, --- for his evil ways. Rae admitted it was creepy having someone staring at her when she first woke up. She could feel his presence. Without opening her eyes, she already knew Shadow was standing at the foot of her enormous four poster queen size bed, with its deep dark red velvet cover and it’s down filled mattress topper, it was comparable to sleeping on a

As Fenice confesses that her heart is different from Cligès’ in that “his heart is the master, and [hers]/ is servant”(4483-4484), the old slave-and-master relationship between Fenice and her heart does not vanish, but merely transform into a similar one between her heart and Cligès’. Therefore, when Fenice thinks she is losing her heart, she merely ceases to delegate the desire-generating function to her heart. Although she chooses to be subjected to Cligès, she does so only in order to enjoy love better. As she indulges in her desire for Cligès, she is even released from those basic needs such as food and drinks (4366-4368). The speaker’s observation that “whoever’s a servant of love / must make him his lord and master” (3871-3872) suggests that the awe-inspiring quality, which is the nature of attraction, is not inherent in the object but generated by the viewer.…

As sore as she must be from his ministrations, and the bruises and welts that adorned her skin, his muscles, too, ached, and the bath would soothe both, before they retired to sleep on white, satin sheets.
