My body glistening with sweat. I sit up in bed rubbing my dilated eyes. Once my hands leave my eyes the suit stares at me ready for another day as Chief of Police. I hopped into the charger and sped for work I was 5 minutes late. But not for long. I pull into the parking lot the car lurking forward but as I turn the corner the see a sea of press all waiting for answers to questions no one knows. I quick turn around hoping no one saw me. I pull into the back knowing what happens when I walk into the double doors. Yelling stretches across the room

They had found me. Ned started cursing and got really mad at his father for speeding. The officer came up to the car and Ned pretended that nothing was wrong. Until I heard 5 more police cars come. Ned got frightened and shot 5 rounds in the air with his pistol. The cop ran back to the other cops waiting with guns. I lay in the car frightened but I knew I was safe, the trunk was facing away from the cops and they couldn’t shoot me. Finally Jack texted me back and said “What do you want to do?” So I walked them through the steps and how to distract them while I come from behind. Once I heard the gigantic megaphone come on with Jack yelling into it I knew that was my signal. I popped open the truck and walked behind Ned and his father. Since Ned was the only one with a gun I just had to get him contained. I grabbed the crowbar in the truck and swung it slapping Ned with it in the back of the head. As a fifty-four year old senior, there have been many times that I have been reminded of my age, none so glaring as when I was asked to condense those years into 3 paragraphs. I was born on October 12th, 1962, right between the Bay of Pigs incident and President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. I was born on Hamilton Air Force Base in California, a place which no longer exists. I wonder how many people can appreciate that. Over the years I have heard people say, you can’t go home, or it’s not like you remember.…

ding. If I were in this situation as the parole officer I would do my best to try and help to mother, in whichever way possible. I know this would go against my beliefs and rules that I must follow as a parole officer but I still think I would try my hardest to help this mother get back on her feet and be able to provide for her children. I think many people would jump the gun and file a violation report on this specific issue, as she is violating her probation, but I don’t feel that would be the best way to approach this situation.…

The day I started my new job in the Department of Correction, I remember having an exciting feeling, but also extremely nervous. When I walked into the facility it was nothing like it was betrayed to be on T.V. I was expecting to see inmates behind bars, and hearing the sound of the gates close behind you. Instead it was more like 50 men was walking around and able to touch you if they wanted to, there was no bars just a room of like 25 cells with an open area, which is referred to as the common area. The feeling of nervousness increased while the feeling of excitement went away. At that moment I was not sure if this was the right route I wanted to take.…

Introduction “Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” — Vince Lombardi As I reflect on my leadership journey, I become more convinced with Vince that leaders are not born leaders, but are a result of a conscious effort to be one. While serving in various institutions in leadership positions, I have seen myself emerge to those positions through my hard work and skills rather than just having been assigned to it. Various factors like experience, training, mentorship, conscious practice and even failure have contributed in developing my leadership abilities.…
