Laying in bed, wide eyed, I tried to muster enough strength to elevate myself from the mysterious force sitting on my chest. My strength to release myself from this captivity failed and made the situation worse. The prickling sensation painted my body and a loud buzzing noise rang in my ears. When with this horrific nightmare end?! When i thought things couldn’t get any worse, a hand reached from under the depths of my bed and lashed at my foot. Panic grew to terror and had swallowed me like a predator and its prey. Unable to lift my head from my state of paralysis, I couldn’t see the creature that clasped my foot. It yanked it down and unable to move I screamed for help, but the cry for rescue was silenced and my yelp faded into the air. Words spewed from my mouth but not a sound was made. Minutes seemed like hours and my cries for help were only in my head. The hand grasped tighter around my ankle and I prayed for my awakening to be soon. At that instant, I awoke with a thunder. I hesitantly glanced under my dark bed to see nothing but dust bunnies stare back at me. The air was around me was heavy and my body was vigilant from the hand’s recruitment. My eyelids weighed down over my eyes but I disrupted myself from falling asleep the whole night out of

Her watery eyes stared at mine and the monster’s being. Petrified, I quitted the room with zest, my heart beating as I hear the thundering footsteps pursuing behind. Attempting to outrun the beast I locked myself within a chamber, hearing the howling of the giant and charging against the door. I had prepared to succumb to my fate, perhaps this was my consequence for acting out what my nature allowed. Yet, familiar voices echoed through the hallways and the frenzy subsided, the male creature was killed.…

Disbelieve and fear shook my mind as I lie on my back, sitting on top of concrete sandwiched in between the hot metal hood of a car, as the weight pressed down against me it didn’t hurt, my body was too numb to feel anything. A Candle In My Heart. “A Candle In My Heart” is based of some true stories, which became known to me in my years as a Primary School Teacher.
