Wars are a tragedy and something that should be avoided at all cost. Wars cause pain physically and emotionally to soldiers, families, and friends. There are not many differences between wars because all wars have the same objective; stop the guy who is trying to kill you. Possibly the only difference is how people are killing each other in the war with different combat gear that has evolved over time. Soldiers still face the brutality of war with having to face the enemy head on and to care about the man beside them. World War II and the Iraqi war, both soldiers are just trying to get by while fighting for their life. They live in the same set up with the same mind frame about war. Put into foreign places they have to quickly adapt to their environment and befriend the natives there. Working conditions for both were strict and regimental in countries or on ships that had tight quarters. Waking up at dawn and working till sunset the solders never quit. Every year the TV station play repeats of the news casted on that day with documentaries at night informing people of what happened that fateful day. Sometimes I watch the specials and sometimes it is too hard to watch them because I remember exactly what I was doing and where I was. I was at home working on math because I was homeschooled on 9/11. My dad called on his way to work and told us to turn the TV on because he had heard on the radio about one of the towers being hit by a plane. We turned n the TV ad watched as the tower fell and the second tower was hit. I was six at the time and not entirely sure what was happening, but I knew people were dying and I knew our country had been attacked; later when my dad came home he and my mom explained to me, my sister, and brother about what happened. We mourned with the rest of the country as so many lives were taken that day and still do to this
