"The doom of all who harmed them was certain" (310). Before I started high school and learned how to drive, every day after finishing homework I would go to my neighborhood store to shop for confectionary and school supplies. Preparing to travel to the store, I checked the outside weather and it appeared like a bright and sunny day, until I got onto my bike. When I rode my bike for thirty minutes, the weather immediately turned from bright to gloomy; the gloom encompassed itself with heavy rain and wind, and I knew it was going to become a perilous journey to go back home. Similarly to Odysseus, I had to find a way for advice; only my safeguard came from a covered parking lot area, warding off the “ghosts” of wind and rain. The words "doom …show more content…
When I was about five minutes away from the store, my bicycle wheels skid through braking too hard to stop in a tree branch and I ultimately fell on the bicycle lane, without assistance for my injuries or despair. Passing cars, those cars, forcefully led my life into a state of flashing with the possibility of fatal injury or even death if a vehicle ever struck me. As I slowly came up, I saw that my ankle was sprained, and ultimately fell down even harder to the ground. Since my injuries was too severe in allowing me to successfully walk home without tripping on a crack in a road, I attempted to call my sister with the gleam of hope that she would pick me up. Alas, my sister claimed that she was too busy doing “online shopping and tweeting” and denied my request to have a ride home. In my desperation, I tried to call every contact I had in my phone, but after calling the second person, my phone ran out of battery and I could not get it to turn on …show more content…
To gain the attention of any individual for a ride to get home, I recklessly through tree branches and small pebbles to the road, hopefully catching attention to an onlooker for rescue, even if he questions my period of “savagery”. Without gaining any attention whatsoever, I ultimately had to courageously limp home, resisting the excruciating pain, falling, and periods of sudden flashing while forcing myself to stand up and to enter the vicious cycle of suffering again after the first feeling of unbearable pain. However, while I was limping home, my conscience suddenly “told” me to become courageous through this event to allow me to look back and tell this story of suffering to allow other individuals to become courageous in severe adversities. I even almost considered myself to become the archetype of the hero through reading numerous Star Wars novels, since I now know that I was predestined to encounter these austerities in my life to ultimately reach the ultimate boon: arriving

In many ways, individuals often struggle against their fears. The time I experienced this was when I used to ride steers a couple summers ago. It was a hot July day and my dad and I had just finished helping my Rodeo queen sister get ready for carrying flags to start off the rodeo. After when we walked over to the stands to get ready for their riding, I was gearing up to ride one of those beasts they call steers, thinking I was going to get killed.…

Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

“Mia can you go walk A field and the corral?” my supervisor asked over the walkie-talkie as I finished bringing in fifteen excited dogs from group play. By this point I had already walked more than a dozen dogs, fed half the kennel, and taken out over a hundred dogs for one of their daily outings. I was exhausted and now I had to pick up a field full of dog feces.…

The trips were unplanned, as I have traveled to 13 different countries in four continents of the world. At least that was something to brag about after returning home from six years of military service. I would talk about these moments in a heartbeat when topics related to travel surface in conversations. Remembering and reliving those moments brings great fulfillment. Usually, there's a moment in life where I experience home in places I've visited.…

It was a typical Friday, school was off and the temperature was at its highest. At times like this I would stay home to avoid the sun; however, my friends insisted that I must join them for a soccer game and so I did. We used a garage as our field and aligned a few cement bricks to form the goals which we then typically argue about how un-even the alignments were. The sun slowly faded away as night approached so I excused myself and retreated home fearing the consequences of being breaking curfew.…

There was not a single piece of leather furniture that lacked an intricate map I had scratched into it with my grubby four-year-old fingernails. Every wall and flat surface had Sharpie murals of vast cotton candy skies and family trees made of dogs as soon as I discovered how to hold a pen. My parents never tried to stifle my creativity. They urged me to pursue artistry and offered every tool conceivable to develop my creative skills. Growing up hearing my father jam out on guitar and watching my mother lose herself painting silk (among the many other hobbies they both tend to), my inspiration never ran dry.…

I rode the bus every day in middle school and would interact with a few people who also lived in my neighborhood. They were in no way my friends, but the circumstances had left us stuck on a bus for 30 minutes with a different group of students who normally wouldn't interact. One girl was very religious and we would eventually ease into a logical debate about religion. Every afternoon as we rode from the school into our old neighborhood. This article is, in my opinion, an example of how personal narrative can sometime confuse the author’s purpose. In order to frame her arguments she discussed her experiences with her family, and specifically how she was born a twin to a stillborn sister. She explains her families lack of coping and how her family effected her life, but I failed to focus on the overarching idea that she wanted to get out because of how distracting the stories from her personal life are. Instead found myself thinking that her story was strangely personal without much justification for why it was this way. While the point of her article, the balance between truth and respect, was somewhat present overall, the sections of personal narrative that she decided to include muddled it.…
