“Aaaaaaaaaahhhh!” a high pitched voice screamed in fright. Prentice and Mr. Forkle turned outside. “Who was that?” Prentice asked, but the answer came as quickly as the words. Mr. Forkle got up and ran for the door. “Come on,” he ordered. Prentice got up and followed him, activating his obscurer. Outside, Sophie, on sprawled out on the ground. Mr. Forkle, pulled out a strange device and hit a few buttons. A phone, that’s what the humans call it, Prentice remembered. He then knelt down and placed his fingers on her temples. “What, what are you doing?” Prentice asked. “I have to activate her telepathy, there’s no time to explain why right now,” Mr. Forkle answered. Forkle said. He motioned for Prentice to walk back into the house with him. Right about then, the scent of burnt sugar filled the air. Ahhhhhh, the sweet scent of pyrokinetic fire, Prentice thought, wait a minute, why are there pyrokinetics in San Francisco?”

Mr. Forkle must have smelled it too, because he was around the corner before Prentice could react. Prentice sprinted and followed, he knew something was wrong. Suddenly, the obscurer exploded into a shower of sparks, and so did Prentice’s imparter. Aaargh! Prentice mentally gasped. Dropped to the ground and slapped his side hard to get rid of the spreading flames. He glanced over his shoulder to see what could’ve caused this anomaly, and his face contorted into an expression of pure horror. Standing before him was a being made of crystal, clad in a dark cloak. It’s elfin eyes stared at him in a cold expression of arrogance, like he was a mere bug.
Through the transparent body you could see a normal brain and some wires, it was like someone had turned an elf into a crystal robot. “W-w-what are y-y-you”, Prentice gasped. He realized that standing before him was an elf, but one that had crystal instead of flesh.
