We were driving to New York and Rhode Island over the summer; me, my sister, our cousins, and grandparents. It was a very lengthy drive, supposed to talk only 9-10 hours, but for us it took 13. There were many factors for why this trip took longer than expected. About halfway through driving, there was a huge storm that hit us right about when we were located in Pennsylvania. This storm was huge, and there was so much rain it was hard to see in order to keep driving. I thought that the ground was going to swallow us up at any moment. We then got to an intersection where we had to make the choice of whether or not to keep driving or pull off and stay in hotel or somewhere overnight. We had decided to keep driving, in hopes that the weather …show more content…
A little bit after we had continued to drive, it seemed like we were wrong. The weather was not getting better, in fact it seemed to be progressively getting worse. As we were driving there was a pothole that we hit and I swear I thought that the ground was going to swallow us up. There was so much water that came up and hit the car we couldn’t even see. The car began to make weird noises and slowed to a stop, making everyone very uneasy and worried. We were already stuck in the storm, and it was bad enough to drive through, and now we were broken down on the side of the road during the storm, with no clue as to why we were broken down. My grandparents and two of my cousins got out of the car to check and see what had happened and why the car stopped. After looking around, and checking everything, they noticed that all four tires were flat. It looked as if someone had ripped them to shreds, almost like someone had taken a large bite out of them. I heard my cousin Cole speak, saying, “Everyone just calm down, let's call a tow truck, and we can figure this out once …show more content…
My cousins and I all grew to be very hungry. 5 teenagers, and it was bound to happen sooner or later. We hadn't had anything to eat for a few hours and didn’t have anywhere around the towing company to walk to. We asked our grandparents if there was any food in the coolers or anywhere in the car. My grandmother yelled out to us that there was some chips and sandwiches in the cooler on top of the car, next to the green bag. My cousin Sydney yelled over to my grandparents “What’s in the green bag? I haven’t seen it before, is there food or drinks in it?” My grandmother replied, sternly telling us not to open that bag, and everything was just in the coolers. We began to look through everything, hoping to find something that looked even somewhat appealing, but did not succeed. We started to tear everything apart, looking to see if anyone had any other snack, gum, or anything in our bags. We looked through everything and then got to the last bag. The green bag on top next to the coolers, when I suggested that we should just look in it and see if there was anything. My sister replied saying “Grandmother told us there wasn’t anything, we should listen to her and just leave it alone.” I lost my footing on the step ladder that I was using to reach the top of the car and fell, knocking the bag down onto the ground,

They tasted so good we forgot we were eating a week’s worth of groceries” (Walls 77). It was such a rare time for the Walls family to be enjoying a meal. When there was a shortage of food and money, sibling bond is what came to be. Thus, I believe that this book targets at both children and parents. While in the 21st century, we have easy access to places such as Dunkin Donuts to buy an iced coffee or Key Food to buy bread slices, the Walls children, specifically Jeannette and Brian would pick up food from the trash and call it a meal for the day.…

The event that took on the evening of November 20th, 2014, it was so horrific and strange that nobody would think that this would ever happen to them. Imagine that you are driving carefully and by following all rules and regulations of traffic, but from nowhere, a car crosses the intersection in front of you and smashes into your car perpendicularly bumper to bumper. It was that event that happened with us on the intersection of John Fries Highway intersection with Allentown Road. During the accident, I was sure that nothing would go wrong because at my sight, I thought we were going slow, but when it crashed, it sounded pretty loud. After the accident, me and my dad’s mind went blank for a few minutes and then when we came to our senses, we…
