I was ten when my grandmother died. On her deathbed, my grandmother looked like an angel shrouded by darkness. Her last words was something only for my ear. “Black cannot exist without white my boy, and good cannot exist without evil. There is always one to counteract the other. When an angel appears to someone, a demon appears to another. Your grandfather’s death my boy happened in order to allow you to live. The day before your sixth birthday, you were in a car crash which damaged your brain beyond repair. Even if you would have lived, you would have been a shell of a man. Your grandfather could not bear to see you as a shell of a man so he kept trying to find ways to get you higher in the brain transplant priority list. Desperation took …show more content…
The experimentation that company was doing was trying to create an artificial brain and therefore slowly murdering people to further their understanding of natural brain functions. When your grandfather realized this he tried to leave, but he couldn’t while you were still in the hospital and on the waitlist for a brain transplant. After a month, he only needed one more day to be finished and refused to do anymore work for the company. The company, fearing what secrets he could reveal, drugged him with a poison when he appeared for the last day of research and he died the next day. That is why the doctors thought your grandfather died from a heart attack when he actually was poisoned. Your grandfather was not the only one who received the poison though, I had received it too yesterday when I went to a business meeting. The Noir Company will never let us live a normal life, my boy. The brain you have right now is their only successfully-made artificial brain from your grandfather’s research. You are their experiment and they will never let you go. Never let them control you though my boy, for if you remain steadfast in your hopes and aspirations then your life will truly be under your control - not theirs” she whispered in a hushed …show more content…
By the time I awoke, I was in a conference room with the CEO of the Noir Company. He had called me over and , “Welcome Project Neuron, welcome to where your mind was created, and more importantly though, where your humanity was officially lost. I pretty sure you know who I am after all we done to you. Do you honestly believe you would have gotten anywhere if it wasn’t the company’s intervention? If you did then I am glad I shot that silly idea out of your head. Now if you would please sit calmly we have some business to discuss.” I responded with a firm, “No!”, and started to walk to the door. The CEO just walked over to his desk, grabbed a gun out of the desk and calmly aimed the gun and spoke, “Now Project Neuron, I sure do hope you know what you are doing because if you try to walk out the door now then I will be forced to kill you.” I turned around and voiced my thoughts in a deadly tone, “You honestly believe you own me. My! What a laugh! You think you own me when in reality I own you. Do you see what you are doing right now? I am controlling every decision you make whether you decide to shoot me or not. If you shoot me then you save the world from knowing about the horror you have inflicted on the

Living in an all-white town, going to an all-white church, having only all-white friends gave me the impression that this is what the world was like. I never heard of any other race other than white or any other religion other than Christian until one year in elementary an African American girl came into my class. I was in awe of her stunning dark skin and dark hair, yet petrified to ask her anything regarding her differences. When I arrived home later that day from school I told my mother about her and asked why I had never seen anyone like that or why I never knew that there was people like that in the world. My mother looked as if I had shown her a monster that had been hiding in my closet and then she yelled and sent me to my room.…

Dr. Roylott, also having “a passion also for Indian animals”, had an advantage as to the knowledge of a poisonous snake venom, but a doctor in general would have knowledge of what types of poisons coroners would search for upon examining a dead body. Dr. Roylott had the “…idea of using a form of poison which could not possibly be discovered by any chemical test was just such a one as would occur to a clever and ruthless man who had had an Eastern training. The rapidity with which such a poison would take effect would also, from his point of view, be an advantage” (Doyle). A doctor would know whether a poison was traceable or not and thus Dr. Roylott used his knowledge to his full advantage so that he would not get caught for poisoning his daughter. Moreover, Doctor Roylott knew a quick inquiry would happen and the fast attack of the venom to the body would only aid him in not giving anyone the time to investigate the dying body of his victim.…

Over the duration of my senior summer I was allowed to experience many wonders as I transitioned out of one segment of my life to a new one; however, possibly to greatest experience out of the entire time period of my summer was my family's trip to six flags. We began planning for the trip months in advance saving money, gathering supplies, and making reservations. We toiled through this segment of planing making sure that all of the details of the trip would be perfect. Once all of our details were lined up ducks in a row and bags packed as if we were to stay for a month, we began travel on the an interstate that was as busy as an ant nest just before winter, as in when they begin to store food, but I digress we weaved through the traffic,…
