Personal Narrative Analysis

If, hypothetically, some sort of cosmic storm created an EMP signal or something of the other that rendered all digital equipment on earth inoperable, I would spend my time reading, playing ball games with my friends, hiking, biking, relaxing on the beach and enjoying nature in general. Also, I can give my eyes a break!
Since our lives are constantly immersed in technology and activities, we can use the downtime to do what we don’t typically do — activities that require no electronics. Those activities would suddenly pop into the spotlight, and in that time, as the time period grew longer and longer, the use of electronics would become more and more obsolete until the hypothetical storm stopped.
Since reading requires no electronic devices, this would be the perfect opportunity to spend my time because I find it fun to catch up on literature that I have because I sometimes procrastinate when I should be

I can also practice my throwing skills by throwing a baseball or playing ping pong with my friends. I have a goal to beat my mom in ping pong, but I have not realized this goal yet because I don’t set aside a time to practice.
I also enjoy hiking with friends, family, or both. When the weather is nice, we hike Mount Tamalpais, Mission Peak, the Pinnacles, or, we go to Lake Tahoe and hike the various trails they have there. The people we go with determine the length of the hike or degree of difficulty.
Biking offers a different perspective of the road and trails. You get to see more sights when when you slow down from 45 miles per hour to 10 miles per hour or less. You can also stop frequently to check out the many interesting thing surrounding your route. Biking is also faster than walking and therefore, you can cover more ground. I enjoy going down hill more than I enjoy biking

    Unplugged For 24 Hours

On Friday the 16th of October I went unplugged for 24 hours, and found it surprisingly uneventful. I had one minor slip up where I started looking at a phone because I was talking to a person who was getting the proper spelling for words off his phone. Other than that I did not notice a difference from my normal life. For the most part, I spend my time talking to people in person so that is what I did well unplugged. The biggest challenge was making sure I had my school work done before hand because everything has to be turned in online.…

Initially, when the Department of Homeland Security was created I, along with many Americans believed its sole function was to assist in the prevention and management of future terrorist incidents. However, as time progressed, and the department became more established and reorganized it began to emphasize on; preparation, prevention and mitigation of a much wider scope of hazards (Haddow, Bullock, & Cappola, 2014). Some of that wider scope contains natural disasters in addition to the threat of terrorism. Furthermore, the Department of Homeland Security also involves the assessment on infrastructure and communities to help businesses and local government manage resources to enhance security and recovery before and after an event (DHS, 2017).…

Could you live a normal day without any sort of technology? Technology influences our lives, and being without it would negatively impact people. This is why I think we should not take part in ‘Shut down Your Screen Week’. I assert this because taking part would only negatively impact our learning. This would happen because technology helps us think better and deeper, and it enables us to keep in touch with our friends.…

If you like playing outside and want to do something other than walk or run get a mountain bike (a bike for off road use) a skateboard. Mountain biking is fun and exciting, and so is skateboarding. Skateboarding requires different skills and special gear, but mountain biking requires just a helmet. Mountain biking takes balance and strength, you have to be in good shape, and you need to be safe.…

I was nervous to go on the hills at first, but then it wasn't so bad. I liked to buzz up the hills like a bee. I like to go into the forest on their trails. The trails had a lot of puddles so we had to dodge them so the water doesn't go slash and get the four wheeler all dirty. Even that your four wheelers still get as muddy as a…

Short shorts. Short shorts as far as the eye can see. This is what I saw all over ETSU’s beautiful campus as I went one day without my cell phone. Initially, I thought nothing much would come out of the seemingly uninteresting assignment, but I was mistaken. It proved to be an eye-opening day, mostly because I saw how much students were on their phones, I learned that I am terrible at telling time, and I can now cope with my social anxiety instead of jumping to my phone.…

    Screen Week Benefits

Shutting down our screens for a week would give us many opportunities to learn how to focus more, without being distracted. Electronics give people many chances to just procrastinate instead of getting important things done. Studies show that there are more negative aspects of using technology than positives ones. It’s hard to get work done when you’re texting people or updating your social media, but if you eliminated all screens, things can change. Our school should participate in shut down your screen week to observe if there’s any change in the participating students attitude or grades.…

Resisting and minimizing old age impositions As the analysis unfolds, I noticed a deeper tension in age construction. Older workers demonstrate a disparity between how they perceived age and how others do. They hold non-conventional beliefs about age as the embrace an ageless identity, but at times, others label them old following traditional old age scripts in interaction. However, as workers face this struggle they aim to control and minimize age meanings that contradict with their perception of age.…

During my junior year of highschool, just before I started my second semester, my parents sat myself and my two siblings down in our living room. They told us that they had something important to tell us, and that they had waited this long to tell us because they had wanted us to enjoy the holidays. The last time they had done something like this, they were telling us our great grandmother had passed away. I was immediately worried that I would be attending my second funeral in a span of two years. What came next left me hollow: we had to remove all of our animals from our property.…

This article is, in my opinion, an example of how personal narrative can sometime confuse the author’s purpose. In order to frame her arguments she discussed her experiences with her family, and specifically how she was born a twin to a stillborn sister. She explains her families lack of coping and how her family effected her life, but I failed to focus on the overarching idea that she wanted to get out because of how distracting the stories from her personal life are. Instead found myself thinking that her story was strangely personal without much justification for why it was this way. While the point of her article, the balance between truth and respect, was somewhat present overall, the sections of personal narrative that she decided to include muddled it.…
