Have you ever seen your bone before? I know I have and it didn’t feel the best. This is when I broke my arm on my dirt bike that is 45 years old. I bought my dirt bike in 2016 from my uncle.…
Mrs. Reinhard’s Biking Incident I remember the day quite vividly. I had a friend over. She got hurt. I didn’t know what to do. It hurts to remember it.…
My mom constantly nagged at me, saying things like, “What are you doing with your life??” or “You're going to be a failure!” This is when reality hit me like a bus. My mother losing faith in me this was also the time where everyone applied for the high school they wanted to go to. Everything that I’ve done so far wasn’t what I wanted to be.…
As a military child, I left the United States with my family at the age of five and spent eight years living overseas at duty stations in Japan, Germany, and Italy. We traveled extensively during vacations to over 20 different countries. As a result, I claim proficiency in ordering french fries and apple juice in several different languages. Although moving has brought me some misfortune, and many people would say that living overseas qualifies as adversity, I never felt it was such.…
In many ways, individuals often struggle against their fears. The time I experienced this was when I used to ride steers a couple summers ago. It was a hot July day and my dad and I had just finished helping my Rodeo queen sister get ready for carrying flags to start off the rodeo. After when we walked over to the stands to get ready for their riding, I was gearing up to ride one of those beasts they call steers, thinking I was going to get killed.…
Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…
This month we had an assembly on animals. the speaker taught us about animals like a Bearded Dragon, a blue tongued lizard, and a kangaroo, carpet python, parrot, and a tarantula. She was very smart and taught us a lot. This is what I learned.…
Then all of a sudden I realized that I did not know how to stop, and I went crashing into a fence. Everyone came running down the street to see if I was hurt, but I did not pay much attention to the pain, I remember the feeling of finally learning how to ride a bike I was ecstatic! After month of watching everyone else enjoy the one thing I had hoped for, come true I was beside myself. I remember telling my grandmother to call my parents and let them know that I had finally learned how to ride a bicycle. The memory of when I learned how to ride a bike, is significant in my adult life and connects with my personality on the level of empathy, compassionate, and agility.…
My sister Elly is a senior in college, she was given a sports marketing internship down in Nashville, Tennessee. So last summer, she drove all the way there. She was going to live in an apartment with some of her sorority sisters (Alpha Delta Pi) on campus. Elly lived only ten blocks away from Bridgestone Arena. The place where the CMT award show would be at!…
The first time I had a phone I was in elementary school, and had it for about 2 years. Then as life moved on, and events took place, I was not allowed to have one, and did not have one for almost two years. When I was in fourth or fifth grade I was allowed to have another one and kept it until the sixth grade. My dog had torn it apart, and because of financial reasons, there was only one phone in the house, between three people, and it was a old slide up phone. Not a touch screen…
This year I learned a lot, and it was my most stressful, emotional, and extra year I have ever been through. I of course went through heartbreak, and betrayal of old friends, but what high school student wouldn’t go through all of that. Even though through it all, it made me become a better person. I had altercations with students, and teachers, and it made me realize that I need to be more mature. I promised myself this year not to let anything get to me, and to just keep to myself, but I wound up having the most emotional year I never thought I could have.…
Faith is something that I learned from my own life lessons. Faith to me means many things. The first thing that comes to mind when I remind myself of faith when i’m feeling down, is going to church. I learned to have faith in God by how my parents taught me, but the real lesson I have is from teaching myself. I learned from my mistakes.…
It was like the weather. Some days were sunny, some cloudy, and every once in a while a great deal of rain. I could try and fathom what would happen next as if I actually were a weatherman. But what would be the point? I knew I had depression.…
Burned rubber littered the driveway where I once stood. Mother never failed to be dramatic and base her actions on her anger. I would learn later on that the biggest mistake was leaving that house. The solemn childhood I live through made me a better person.…
A few years ago I had a pretty bad accident. It was in the afternoon on the day before school started. I was riding my four wheeler down the gravel road because there really isn’t anything else to do out in the country where I live. I was just cruising down the road that day when I decided I wanted to do a wheelie. Usually when I did wheelies I would just sit down and try to ride one, but this time I wanted to try something new.…
