I was walking down the old and cracked sidewalk to get to my somewhat new car that I had parked in a parking lot that was on the edge of the campus of the college as the other parking lots that I would normally have parked in had been full. I was trying to get my car before the heavy rain that I had heard was forecasted this morning on the news, as I was getting ready to go to college that would start soon. I had just gotten out of my last class of my fall semester of my senior year of college.
I had thought that I had done fairly well on the last final and would be getting a high B or low A overall in the class. While I would normally had thought about what to do to celebrate that I had finished another semester that was not what I had been

It was would I be able to take care of him emotionally as well as being able to be there for him that was harder to figure out. I had just started to think about those two issues when my cell phone had gone off when I answered it had just about to go to voice, I found that it was from Nick’s mom who had wanted to know how I was doing as well on my thoughts on taking in Luke. Nick’s mom as well as his dad had been on the list of the people to take care of Luke due to their age they had been the third or fourth option. After getting off the phone, I had been more confident on the matter of if I would be able to figure out if I would be able to be there both emotionally as well as physically for Luke. knew that there where a good chance I could start doing most of my work from home where I would only have to go into the office 5-10 hours a week which I could do while Luke was at school. As far as finishing the last semester of college so that I could graduate I thought that I could most likely able to take most if not all of the classes that I had been planning to take online. This would mean that I would only have to go in for any class that I would not be able to do

A week before this fall semester started, I was having a nervous breakdown. During this time I was already enroll in classes at ASU, full time and all online. In order to understand my dilemma, let it first be established that it is my personal belief that anything lower than a grade of B is unacceptable, and that is already a worst case scenario. Going full time every semester will be more difficult, but more beneficial than enrolling in anything less, because tuition stop at 7 credits, not including class fee per ASU policy. Since online classes are fairly new to me, enrolling full time at a university may just be pushing it.…

This is my very last day at Lakefront highschool before I move to Mountain View High and I could not be regretting it more. My dad got a new job in Missouri and we have to move there. The thought just rushed to my brain, I have to leave my very best friend behind that I’ve known since pre-school. Right as I walked into school I gave her the biggest hug I have ever given someone. It made mine and her face turn red as I wrapped my arms around her and squeezed her to the point she couldn’t breath.…

Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

In small-town Mississippi, I was always taught that being Conservative was the only way to be and that thinking any other way would go completely against my religion. That being said for the majority of my life I believed I was a Republican until I turned 16 and realized that I agree with very little of what Conservatives do. I now consider myself to be an Independent who leans liberal and the thought of changing my views is pretty unfathomable at this point. However, if I really had to contemplate doing that I would have to consider my few objections to the typical view of Liberals, and that would mostly have to deal with my thoughts on abortion.…

Many people go through life thinking that intelligence is static. Many think that people are simply born with certain skills; they either have them, or they don’t. After all, the only way to be smart, is to be born with it, right? Or is there more to it than that? It only makes sense that the brain, being like any muscle in the human body, would work identically to say, a bicep; the more you condition it, the more it will thrive, and the more it will expand.…

In elementary school, one of my teachers was especially infamous for humiliating students. I remember him loudly shaming one of my classmates, scoffing at the work turned in. Another moment that stuck with me was when I had stayed in during tutorial for help with math concepts, and he became increasingly angry when I made a mistake on the problems. I ended up developing a deep-seated fear of rejection. I generally avoided talking to my teachers for help from then on, hoping that the lack of interaction meant they would not give me grief over the mistakes I would make.…

Slaves to batteries and power outlets; we have entered the new America. Energy, power, electricity all impose the same idea for us in today's world. We are in an ever ending loop of searching for a source of power that is both efficient and clean. As a child, the thoughts of how electricity powers everything from a toaster to our own brain sparked my interest in electrical engineering. The thoughts of creating light from a potato is unfathomable.…

I can recall the beginning of my college exploration during my freshman year of high school. Straight out of middle school, college sounded like a crazy idea that only existed in dreams. My guidance counselor at the time was so enthusiastic for us to go to college. She was spewing out so much information to me I was overwhelmed. As a first generation college student, this all was something very foreign to me and my family— but I was intrigued by it.…

As a woman, I was constantly told I was stuck here in Afghanistan and I had no other options. From the day I was born, I felt as if I was being walked all over, ignored, and abused. I wasn't being abused physically, but beyond mentally. Growing up, I knew the day would come where I would be stuck with a sad excuse for a husband, in fact one I didn't even get to chose. I was definitely trying to pretend that it wasn’t going to happen, but my father and brothers always reminded me of the plans for my future as it was inevitable.…

On top of a shelf where dirt and dust lie, many medals shine in the distance. All the medals are special in their own little way, but we’re going to talk about the most important… My first one, the reason why it is so important is that it was the start of something I love, and the story begins on a cold winter morning. I got up with excitement as I remembered that my first game had arrived. I was 6 years old and 3 feet high…

Though at the time of it happening, a challenge can knock you down and make you feel weak, if you react correctly and pick yourself up you will often come out of the situation stronger. My example of this is when I got moved out of my mom’s house. In the very beginning I was hurt that my mom would have me move out rather than my older sister, who is 21. I couldn’t believe that I was “kicked out” rather than my more-than-capable older sister. I was sad and hurt by my mother’s choices.…
