In the summer of 2015 I was given the opportunity of a lifetime. Over 7,000 athletes with just about the same number of volunteers and tons and tons of spectators all gathered at the Los Angeles Coliseum for the Opening Ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympic World Games and I was lucky enough to be a volunteer at such a wonderful event. Although this happened recently, I wouldn’t have been able to be given this opportunity if I didn’t first start three years ago as the youngest coach …show more content…
This person was running around frantic and looked like she was stressing about something. I remembered this lady from the cheer gym earlier that month. She was in charge of the special needs cheer team that my sister helped coach. As I finished up my rounds of hugs I overheard my sister say something to the lady.
“Bailey isn’t going to be able to help coach today, she got hurt while performing.” said Naomi in a panic.
As soon as my mom and I heard this we ran over to see if there was anything we could do to help out. Right as we walked over to the two of them my sister had already turned around and asked me, “Can you please fill in for Bailey on Invincible?”

It was at the Los Angeles Coliseum. We met at a sorority house at USC along with many other cheer teams. As soon as I arrived I fell in love with the event. There were tons of athletes, boys and girls; all have their own unique personality. Some of them had incredible stories.
Once we all got onto a charter bus we shuttled over to the Coliseum. Once we arrived we walked into a huge crowd of people. There must have been thousands of people waiting to get in. We were luckily able to skip the line to get in and went in through a side gate. The LA Coliseum was huge and overwhelming. To make things worse there were many obstacles to face.
On of the many issues was we had an athlete that cheered who was in a wheelchair. Her name is Brianna. Brianna has Cerebral Palsy and very weak muscles. She can walk short distance but when it comes to long distance she uses the support of her wheelchair. This caused a major issue because we were expected to be on the field of the stadium and to get down to the stadium, we had to travel down hundreds of stairs. So the only way to get her down the stairs was for one person to carry her wheelchair and for two people to link arms with her and give her the support she needs. So naturally I stepped up to help walk her down the stairs. The whole thing was very stressful because her safety was in my hands. She was also getting frustrated because of how long and hot our walk was. But in the end
