I was born on February 10, 2002 at Mission hospital in Asheville. When I was born, I always had someone by my side, someone that would always be with me through everything that happens in my life. That person is my twin sister. My parents didn’t really expect to have twins, so it was a big surprise for the whole family when they found out. Growing up, my parents worked a lot, so I spent most of my childhood days at my grandparents’ house. My grandparents’ house was one of my favorite places to go, and still is today. My grandparents live on a small farm, so I grew up with lots of animals around. I remember going out every morning, helping to feed the chickens, and making scrambled eggs for breakfast. When I was 5 years old, I started school at Captain Gilmer Christian School. This was the school that …show more content…
We both didn’t want to, but we finally gave in, and gave gymnastics a try. Now gymnastics is one of my favorite things to do, and I don’t know what I would do without it. Because of my mom, I found something that I really enjoy doing, and still enjoy doing more and more every day. My dad does long distance cycling, so I guess that’s what got us into mountain biking so much. I learned to ride a bike when I was 5 years old, and have loved riding my bike ever since. The longest distance I have ever done is 50 miles, and that was with pathfinders for a fundraiser. I thought it sounded impossible, but I did it, and hope to do more than that in the future. One of my biggest hobbies is running. I first started running when I was in 4th grade, and training for my first 5k. My 4th grade class would go to the LPC two times a week to train for the Frostbite run which is every February. When I was getting ready to run my first 5k I thought I couldn’t do it, but then I remembered all of the training that we had been doing, and I ran it with great success, and loved running from then

Ever since I was in the 6th grade, I have always wanted to run. One of my best friends in middle school, Ty Gleason, was a year older than me, and I always saw his personal best times posted on his locker at school. This made me very eager to start cross country in the fall of my seventh grade year. From then on, I fell in love with the sport of running, and I was…

Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

I reminisce when I was just beginning my adolescent years. I was a bystander to what my parents had to struggle with, and they’ve told me about their journey. Five years, they knew nothing, absolutely anything about speaking English. When they would go out somewhere their only way of communication was using their hands. One thing I remember my father would tell me, “I didn’t take this journey for myself… I did it for you so you would have a greater opportunity than me.”…

During our lives we will no doubt encounter a vast majority of people that are nothing like us. These people might be different physically, emotionally, or spiritually. We, as a society, are expected to look past these differences and work together in harmony. Sometimes people are able to work together smoothly, no matter how different they may be. Sometimes, however, it can be quite difficult.…

This document is my proposal for my independent novel from quarter 3 of 11th grade. We went through a book to learn the proper formatting and technique. For my proposal, I needed to follow the format given in the textbook, and provide an outline for what my final project would be. This project was given to give us experience in outlining and forming a proposal. I learned that creating a good proposal is not as scary as it seems.…

As a child, I had many vastly different ideas of what I wanted to do with my life. At age ten, my biggest dream was to learn how to sew and become a fashion designer, and by junior high, I was confident that writing was my calling. However, none of these dreams extended past my own imagination. This all changed during my freshman year of high school, when I took my first Spanish class and immediately fell in love. It reminded me of listening to my grandparents fluently speak Spanish to each other so that no one else in the family could understand, even though they had both grown up speaking English.…

This year I learned a lot, and it was my most stressful, emotional, and extra year I have ever been through. I of course went through heartbreak, and betrayal of old friends, but what high school student wouldn’t go through all of that. Even though through it all, it made me become a better person. I had altercations with students, and teachers, and it made me realize that I need to be more mature. I promised myself this year not to let anything get to me, and to just keep to myself, but I wound up having the most emotional year I never thought I could have.…

Faith is something that I learned from my own life lessons. Faith to me means many things. The first thing that comes to mind when I remind myself of faith when i’m feeling down, is going to church. I learned to have faith in God by how my parents taught me, but the real lesson I have is from teaching myself. I learned from my mistakes.…

Technology has become a major part in our lives and we can not help it because it is everywhere and everyone uses it. Sometimes we do not feel that anything can happen to us. We feel untouchable. We look at someone we may or may not know going through something and we feel sorry for them, but deep down we are glad that it is not us that has to deal with that situation or that issue. We may even tread through life without giving a second thought to the consequences. I use to think this way too, until life taught me differently.…

This article is, in my opinion, an example of how personal narrative can sometime confuse the author’s purpose. In order to frame her arguments she discussed her experiences with her family, and specifically how she was born a twin to a stillborn sister. She explains her families lack of coping and how her family effected her life, but I failed to focus on the overarching idea that she wanted to get out because of how distracting the stories from her personal life are. Instead found myself thinking that her story was strangely personal without much justification for why it was this way. While the point of her article, the balance between truth and respect, was somewhat present overall, the sections of personal narrative that she decided to include muddled it.…

Loud laughs, heavenly smells of bacon and biscuits, front doors banging open and slamming closed, and shrill, childish screams greeted me as I woke up early one summer morning. The sweltering Louisiana heat wave kept most people locked indoors, but not us. For today was a celebration, my great grandmothers ninety-second birthday. This event brought the whole family together from extended cousins to step aunts and great uncles. As a child, I lived for the moments where we’d all gather in the living room and exchange childhood memories and random phrases of wisdom and reflection.…
