Over the duration of my senior summer I was allowed to experience many wonders as I transitioned out of one segment of my life to a new one; however, possibly to greatest experience out of the entire time period of my summer was my family's trip to six flags. We began planning for the trip months in advance saving money, gathering supplies, and making reservations. We toiled through this segment of planing making sure that all of the details of the trip would be perfect. Once all of our details were lined up ducks in a row and bags packed as if we were to stay for a month, we began travel on the an interstate that was as busy as an ant nest just before winter, as in when they begin to store food, but I digress we weaved through the traffic, …show more content…
We planned for hours and hours grinding through hundreds of hotel adds combing through the scams and the genuinely nice institutions. We finally decided to stay at the Red Roof Inn which was just down the road from the park. Our journey began as we set off from the small town of Sandersville, MS, a town that makes Mayberry look like a bustling metropolis. The trip was long and tiresome while our car bounced back and forth in traffic as we balanced between the mighty 18 wheeler trucks and the other commuters as we made our way to Atlanta. We stopped in Alabama to take a bathroom break and stretch our legs at the mall. While exploring the mall, I found a magical ice cream shop that sold the best coffee ice cream I have ever tasted. It was as if the beans had been roasted right before the making of the ice cream. After I finished my magical beverage, we continued on our trip. Finally, we reached our hotel, the beds were fluffy like clouds and the pillows were like they were made for my head. After we arrived we crawled into our rooms to rest for the night for we had a exponential day ahead of us. When we awoke that morning we gathered in my fathers room to discuss the days events and to eat some breakfast before we departed for the park. I enjoyed a large bowl of pops cereal which is one of my favorite breakfast foods. Its is the fluffiest and sweetest food I can imagine

In many ways, individuals often struggle against their fears. The time I experienced this was when I used to ride steers a couple summers ago. It was a hot July day and my dad and I had just finished helping my Rodeo queen sister get ready for carrying flags to start off the rodeo. After when we walked over to the stands to get ready for their riding, I was gearing up to ride one of those beasts they call steers, thinking I was going to get killed.…

During finals week of fall 2014, my grandmother was starting to cook her oatmeal in the kitchen for breakfast. I was upstairs in my room packing when I heard two loud bangs. I was startled and immediately exited my room as did my brother and together we rushed down the stairs into the kitchen. My grandmother had collapsed. She had busted her nose and hit her head on the cabinets behind her rendering herself unconscious.…

In spite of the implications related to fasting, it has aided my to development to becoming a disciplined individual. As an attentive individuals, most endeavors I take come with an integrated beneficial factor such as health factors. Fasting for the month of Ramadan was an outlet to to becoming an introspective individual as it allowed me to be contemplative about the choices I make regarding the readily access to food and its effects. Unlike most endeavors, I did not succeed in fasting. Instead of focusing on the act of completing the fast, I put more importance on the lessons I learned from it.…

In small-town Mississippi, I was always taught that being Conservative was the only way to be and that thinking any other way would go completely against my religion. That being said for the majority of my life I believed I was a Republican until I turned 16 and realized that I agree with very little of what Conservatives do. I now consider myself to be an Independent who leans liberal and the thought of changing my views is pretty unfathomable at this point. However, if I really had to contemplate doing that I would have to consider my few objections to the typical view of Liberals, and that would mostly have to deal with my thoughts on abortion.…

Slaves to batteries and power outlets; we have entered the new America. Energy, power, electricity all impose the same idea for us in today's world. We are in an ever ending loop of searching for a source of power that is both efficient and clean. As a child, the thoughts of how electricity powers everything from a toaster to our own brain sparked my interest in electrical engineering. The thoughts of creating light from a potato is unfathomable.…

There are not many memories I can recall of my childhood, and of the memories I recall, one stands alone as being the most profound. I was nearly five years old when my mother became pregnant, she told me I was going to be a sister. With three brothers the idea of a sister was exciting enough to fantasize about. The next memory of my mother's pregnancy was the night my brothers and I were in the living room and my parents were arguing in the back bedroom. The anger was frightening and we children would look at each other with questioning eyes.…

This year I learned a lot, and it was my most stressful, emotional, and extra year I have ever been through. I of course went through heartbreak, and betrayal of old friends, but what high school student wouldn’t go through all of that. Even though through it all, it made me become a better person. I had altercations with students, and teachers, and it made me realize that I need to be more mature. I promised myself this year not to let anything get to me, and to just keep to myself, but I wound up having the most emotional year I never thought I could have.…

I’m one of those mundane Newark students who wasn’t born in the greatest neighborhood or born with the happiest life. What makes me different from the rest is my story. I’m a seventeen-year-old young woman who never met the woman who gave birth to her or met her biological family because I was left in a car when I was a few days old. At the age of four I found out I was a foster child and I was going to get adopted at the age of five.…

I still have nightmares about the week when I didn’t have a phone. In my senior year of highschool, my phone got stolen and it took about a week to get a replacement. That week was the longest week of my life. I found myself actually feeling sad and depressed without my phone, which is quite pathetic. When I would go out with friends, I realized just how much of our “hanging out” time actually consisted of us sitting in the same place, but in different worlds.…

It was the night before the first day of school, a new school in fact, and I was pretty eager and excited for the following day. I wasn’t sure whether to be thrilled or nervous, not knowing how my day would turn out. A few weeks prior, Mom had taken me to the store right down the block and we bought all new school supplies, so I was ready, prepared, and once again, excited. My parents were gracious enough to allow me to finish the year off, instead of transferring me to Woodland High School in the middle of the year. They knew it would be hard enough for me to switch schools, let alone in the middle of the year.…

Purchasing a car, whether new or used is a very large expense. For my family and I, waiting until after college to buy the car would be most beneficial. I am looking to purchase a used 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, the car’s price will most likely drop after another six years. Reasons for waiting until after college are, price drops, having a higher paying job, and also having a higher credit score. First of all, the Mustang’s starting price was $60,445 which means the car has depreciated $11,000 in about three years.…

A little stuffed brown bear named Patches is the first image that comes to mind when I reflect on my life. The bear had tags attached to a blue jean pocket with the words happy, sad, excited, anxious, hopeful, etc. I was expected to change the emotions of the bear to match how I felt each day, but this quickly became one my biggest stressors. I didn’t want to display to the world when I felt pessimistic and bitter because it showed signs of fragility and weakness. One day I lost the tag that read the word “hopeful” on it, and my seven year old self thought I was now incapable of ever hoping for a better life.…

A quote by Thomas Friedman says this, “When I was growing up, my parents told me, ‘Finish your dinner. People in China and India are starving,’ I tell my daughters, ‘Finish your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job.’” Last year in 9th grade, I couldn’t understand the fact some less fortunate people would kill for the opportunity I have. Sometimes, I will reflect on the past and think about how difficult it was for me to transition into being a middle school student to a high school and “college” student.…
