As a military child, I left the United States with my family at the age of five and spent eight years living overseas at duty stations in Japan, Germany, and Italy. We traveled extensively during vacations to over 20 different countries. As a result, I claim proficiency in ordering french fries and apple juice in several different languages. Although moving has brought me some misfortune, and many people would say that living overseas qualifies as adversity, I never felt it was such.…

On March 31, 2018, which was on a Saturday I went to my first real view, soccer game it was located inside the southeast entrance of stubhub center at 12pm in the afternoon. I had never been to a game before, but of course my husband convinced me to go with him and my in laws since they are big fans of the Galaxy team. I was really excited since I had already seen these teams play on television. Although it was my first time I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed being able to understand the sport and their rules. I just felt so bad when a player would get injured because it seemed so painful seeing someone get kicked or falling really bad and getting scratched by the grass.…

To Buy or Not To Buy A Kia Like me, many of us do not have the tech skills to really evaluate a car on more than just looks, gas mileage, and price; this is why when searching for a new car doing your research and reading expert and customer reviews can make all the difference. When I was looking for a new car when my lease was up, I did a lot of research online and read many customer reviews in order to find a car that would fit me for the next few years. When it was all said and done, I ended up with the 2015 Kia Optima EX, which seemed to have the perfect balance of style and performance for me. In my readings, I came along many articles and learned a lot about different cars that were all comparable to the Optima; like the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, and Mazda 3. Compared with other mid-size sedan in its class the new 2015 Kia Optima EX over all excels in its close attention to its technology, performance, and affordability making the Kia motor group worthy of another look.…

While both of the videos were interesting for this week, I definitely think I related more to the Ted Talk. When she started to talk about her som throwing up everything he ate, I thought, wow, he must be really allergic to cookies. Then, after further watching, she started to talk about his food allergy and I was shocked that I had guessed it within the first few minutes. However, this story was very relatable, not because I have a disability, but as a kid, I had extreme asthma, like many other children. I lived at the doctors office and my mom was scared to let me go anywhere by myself.…

All around me I can feel the excitement. The smell of a barbeque lingers enticingly in the summer air. Patiently, my mom, sisters, grandmother, aunt, cousins, and I stand in a crowd with around two hundred other people, each eager to see the relative they have been separated from for nine months. I have warm tears of joy rushing down my face, the only way I have seen my dad in the latest month is through a computer screen. It has been to long since I have felt his embracive arms wrapped around me in a warm, assuring hug.…

My wrists had been slit and tied together, bound behind my back. I was in a small, dark space and muffled vibrations were traveling through the floor from the party taking place downstairs. The only light source was dim and came through the slight slits in the door that was directly in front of me. I felt something brush up against my back. This made me jump before I realized that they were just coats.…

When I got to high school it was basically the same thing. I stopped playing sports, though just because of too much drama and I was tired of it. I tried to maintain above a C average in all my classes and even got better at not being so shy, but I was still pretty shy. I was still pretty shy, but I think I will always be that way. I still didn’t have many friends but, the friends I did have, I’m grateful that I had them and that they were willing to be my friend.…

After a long seven-hour car ride, we were finally here, in the Upper Peninsula. Looking out the window of our truck, I knew it was truly different than the big city I grew up in. Not many kids get to experience what happened to me the summer before my second-grade year, but it definitely changed my life for the better. When we first pulled into our new driveway, I could not believe what I was seeing. I can remember seeing a little farm house with about five horses in our backyard.…

Have you ever felt that life is literally too short or that every event in your life went by so quickly? My seventh grade year was like that. Back in fifth grade, I was always nervous about going to the other side of the school building. Whether it was the snicky sock smell of the hallways, the height of the eighth grade boys, or just scary bumping into one of the teachers, that was scary. At the end of sixth grade, I was terrified about what was coming.…

When I was younger, it never occurred to me that life was not all my little town portrayed it to be. I had never been beyond the two flashing lights and one gas station to know what diversity could exist in beliefs and opinions. The point where I reached the age to comprehend how a lot of the people living in my town thought similarly was where I realized I had a number of disagreements with this line of thought. The general opinion was based on close mindedness. There was rarely any encouragement to know what was going on in the world and get involved.…

The first time I had a phone I was in elementary school, and had it for about 2 years. Then as life moved on, and events took place, I was not allowed to have one, and did not have one for almost two years. When I was in fourth or fifth grade I was allowed to have another one and kept it until the sixth grade. My dog had torn it apart, and because of financial reasons, there was only one phone in the house, between three people, and it was a old slide up phone. Not a touch screen…

I have always thought of myself as a walking stereotype nothing special but all of that changed the night of my eighteenth birthday when a boy showed up in my dream. I also noticed that these aren't my usual surroundings during my dreams this was all his own.…
