A total of 9 years in Khoury league and 2 years in high school, so all in all I have been playing this sport almost all my life. I started baseball with the Red Bud T-ball team, the team had a count of 15 people including me and excluding the coaches. Those 15 kids playing on that team became some of my bestest friends and greatest teammates to have. Most of them ended up being with me until we couldn't play khoury league anymore, and then only about 3 or 5 of them played school ball with me.…

A week into Fall, and the temperature was still lulling at 90 degrees, like the mosquitos that swayed comfortably above the bayou that ran for miles outside my English II class. The bayou would eventually diverge by my neighborhood. In class, the philosophical discussion on the Power of One by Bryce Courtenay also diverged. If Peekay could reach compos mentis (full command of one’s mind) after years of training, epitomized by a drunken bar fight, when would we ambitious students scrawled across plastic chairs and creaking wooden tables, reach compos mentis? Was it in adulthood, after college, or after the birth of our first child?…

I don’t remember it that well, but my parents divorced when I was around three years old. I vaguely remember my father getting on a plane at the airport to go back to Guam and my mom, brother, and I waving good-bye. I have heard stories about why they split, saying that it had nothing to do with my brother or I, just differences between the two. As I grew older, I would still get presents in the mail on my birthday, Christmas, and even Halloween. He would send mangos from Guam, pictures of him fishing and even working (as a firefighter).…

Ghost in 17th Floor When I was a kid, the most fascinating things were listening to ghost stories. We did not have any other options because there was no electricity in the countryside. We had to use an old portable lamp, which wasn’t always bright. I couldn’t even see ten feet from where I stand. We had to hold it in our face to see by walking slowly, so slow it would take forever to look for anything.…
