All that we heard from behind us was the constant boom of the shotguns being fired. I could feel the burning in my lungs of the frigid winter air as me and my friend, Jeremy, were running to the car in the black of night. As we made it to the car I glanced around, like a prairie dog, making sure that nothing was out of the order around us. I quickly noticed that nothing was around us and proceeded to enter the car. Upon entering the car I jammed the key into the ignition and smashed the key into the running position and quickly cranked the heat all the way up. I looked and Jeremy and said, “I can't wait for the summer so we will be able to stay and shoot with the old guys up there.” We were both frozen and ready to get home, so I put the transmission into reverse, cut the steering wheel hard to the left and smashed the gas pedal. …show more content…
I looked over at Jeremy, whose eyes where as big a silver dollars, and asked him to go look. As he got out of the car, I sat there, hands gripped to the steering wheel as if it were my father hanging off of a cliff. Jeremy got back into the car and handed my a piece of the taillight. I told Jeremy to stay in the car as I got out to look at the damage. As I was walking to the back of the car, I door from the clubhouse opened and the light from inside filled the night sky and blinded me. I made my way over to the figure and once in ear shot of him, I managed to get enough strength to ask him, “Is this your truck?” Once I made it to him I explained what had happened and we exchanged insurance information. Before I left, I told him once again how sorry I was, and like a man, I looked him in the eyes and give him a firm handshake then proceed out to the

Brian and I went to go talk to the salesman while Andy looked the truck over. Andy did not find anything wrong with the truck, so after talking to the salesman, we decided to buy it. Andy and I took the truck and headed home, while Brian took the car and followed us. Once we got about halfway home, Brian stopped and took over driving the truck so Andy could rest. The ride home was pretty boring, the only exciting thing that happened was we watched a guy on a motorcycle outrun the cops on the interstate.…

In many ways, individuals often struggle against their fears. The time I experienced this was when I used to ride steers a couple summers ago. It was a hot July day and my dad and I had just finished helping my Rodeo queen sister get ready for carrying flags to start off the rodeo. After when we walked over to the stands to get ready for their riding, I was gearing up to ride one of those beasts they call steers, thinking I was going to get killed.…

Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

“Mia can you go walk A field and the corral?” my supervisor asked over the walkie-talkie as I finished bringing in fifteen excited dogs from group play. By this point I had already walked more than a dozen dogs, fed half the kennel, and taken out over a hundred dogs for one of their daily outings. I was exhausted and now I had to pick up a field full of dog feces.…

I have been through so many experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. However, there is one experience in particular that moved me in ways I can hardly put into words. My freshman year of high school, I was given the opportunity to join the Klondike FFA Milk Quality Career Development Event team. Studying and competing in this event led me to develop a fighting hunger for winning. Halfway through my first year, I realized that I did not like to lose.…

The trips were unplanned, as I have traveled to 13 different countries in four continents of the world. At least that was something to brag about after returning home from six years of military service. I would talk about these moments in a heartbeat when topics related to travel surface in conversations. Remembering and reliving those moments brings great fulfillment. Usually, there's a moment in life where I experience home in places I've visited.…

This document is my proposal for my independent novel from quarter 3 of 11th grade. We went through a book to learn the proper formatting and technique. For my proposal, I needed to follow the format given in the textbook, and provide an outline for what my final project would be. This project was given to give us experience in outlining and forming a proposal. I learned that creating a good proposal is not as scary as it seems.…

Days on end of constant pacing, hard work, and unnecessary social interaction. That’s pretty much what I see school as being in a majority of the time, but luckily, every year we get a 2 week vacation. Those are practically blessings for students and I’m sure teachers too. I never do anything but still, it’s a nice time to work on whatever I don’t have time to during school. I have a fairly packed schedule during the school year, so the 2 weeks are a nice time to catch up on sleep and T.V. shows.…

The first time I had a phone I was in elementary school, and had it for about 2 years. Then as life moved on, and events took place, I was not allowed to have one, and did not have one for almost two years. When I was in fourth or fifth grade I was allowed to have another one and kept it until the sixth grade. My dog had torn it apart, and because of financial reasons, there was only one phone in the house, between three people, and it was a old slide up phone. Not a touch screen…

It was the night before the first day of school, a new school in fact, and I was pretty eager and excited for the following day. I wasn’t sure whether to be thrilled or nervous, not knowing how my day would turn out. A few weeks prior, Mom had taken me to the store right down the block and we bought all new school supplies, so I was ready, prepared, and once again, excited. My parents were gracious enough to allow me to finish the year off, instead of transferring me to Woodland High School in the middle of the year. They knew it would be hard enough for me to switch schools, let alone in the middle of the year.…

The first thing that comes to mind when I remind myself of faith when i’m feeling down, is going to church. When I was around fourteen, something clicked for me. I had told my parents, mainly my mom, that I would do better in High school. In middle school, my grades were okay, but nothing to be really amazed with. I could have done better, I know I could have, but I was too lost in my head. In class I would daydream, at home I would scribble away in notebooks.…

September 1st, 2016 started out as just a normal day. After arriving at my apartment from a long day of school, I decided to watch some T.V, since it was a gloomy day outside, until I needed to leave for dance practice. Then, I heard a ringing and looked down to see my best friend Sam’s name pop up on my phone to say that she was calling me. I answered the phone to see what she needed. Sam asked if she could swing by my apartment for a little while until I had to attend practice.…
