Throughout her life, my mother incessantly made sure she completed all her tasks, prioritized, and, all in all, stayed “on top” of all her duties. Summertime comes around, vacations start to be planned, and my mother starts prioritizing, devising, and organizing every aspect of the trip. In addition, because my mom would set her goals, complete them, and did not procrastinate, she ended up being promoted at her job. Her employees and boss realized how dedicated she was to all her task and she became manager of her job position. This track season was the best time of my life, but it went by way too fast. I had no clue what any of the events were, but I caught on very fast because I started training with my cousin, He set the High School record for discus and still has it today. We started to work on throwing shot, and I got very good because we would work on my form for hours and because of that I was the best thrower the whole season. If you look at me compared to other throwers, I look very scrawny. I got 1st in most of my meets, but sometimes we would go against this one kid from Washington Middle and he looked like he was on steroids or something, he had a mustache too.…

Having previously completed various exercises on structure for the project I went through the same process for two of my essay topics, having not decide on my final one. For the essay, I want to try using an explanatory structure around such areas as, “how has the family’s last forest shaped my godmothers view,” or “what does the Peeple app do from a positive or negative perspective.” For the subject Peeple App I could argue a particular view point, but I do not want to, I want to understand more and explain its use. As I look at the topic of my godmother I want to go more in-depth on how this one thing, the forest, has created a feeling throughout the family during meetings that are always accompanied by lawyers.…

The most difficult challenge I had ever faced was overcoming my suicidal thoughts and attempts before it was too late. During my Junior year at Magnolia Highschool, I struggled keeping my sanity in control. Fighting against the conflicting natures of my Samoan cultural traditions, family expectations, religious beliefs, and school standards, causing me to lower my self-esteem and motivation. Currently during this time I was helping support my parents who were living homeless outside on the streets while dealing with the possiblity that I would never seeing my older brother again except behind a glass window. Because of these events I began distancing myself from my family, doing poorly at school, loosing faith in my beliefs, and eventually…

As a child, I grew up in the rough neighborhoods of Panama City FL, walking home from school you could hear the gun shots, see the weed being distributed from one hand to the other, and grown men walking around with their pants below their waste along with a gun on the side. Being from the south, such things became normal to see on a day to day basis. However, I told myself that if I wanted to be successful I would never give into a lifestyle of that sort. I knew that I had to be better than what I saw on the streets, and eventually an opportunity came for me to do just that. It was an opportunity for me to get away from the violence, the gangs that surround my neighborhood, and the overall hostile environment.…

In small-town Mississippi, I was always taught that being Conservative was the only way to be and that thinking any other way would go completely against my religion. That being said for the majority of my life I believed I was a Republican until I turned 16 and realized that I agree with very little of what Conservatives do. I now consider myself to be an Independent who leans liberal and the thought of changing my views is pretty unfathomable at this point. However, if I really had to contemplate doing that I would have to consider my few objections to the typical view of Liberals, and that would mostly have to deal with my thoughts on abortion.…

I thought you were a pure entity. The joyfulness, the confidence that emanates from you captivated me slowly. As I first saw you there with that bewitching energy, I felt a strange feeling. On second thought, I didn’t suspect much, but it was there, latent.…

In a matter of six months my parents got divorced, my mother passed away, my father got remarried, and I moved in with my step mom along with two step brothers. For me, 2015 was the most traumatic year and while having people perceived me as a put together positive person, when in actuality I held back the pain and underlying depressed remorseful grief. However, I was persistent on not allowing myself to be consumed by my misfortunes and trials instead I was dedicated to change with the obstacles. Often, I drew my strength from my friends and family in order to overcome my afflictions. The moment everything began to change was when my father told me he and my mother were getting a divorce.…

It all started the summer I graduated. Me and my girlfriend were helping my dad do some work at his house. When we were leaving he told me for graduation, he would give me his wife's old car I've been wanting, but said I had to pay $2,000. He would pay the other half. In my head I was thinking "that's not giving it to me", I was just happy to be able to get the car.…

Never have I been more overtaken by fear than when I was sandwiched between two four-foot tall fifth grade girls sporting clunky running shoes and skyscraper high ponytails framed by neon headbands. I sneakily glance at them while wiping my sweaty hands onto my bright blue t-shirt and sparkly leggings donning my school colors. Behind us, the high-pitch cheers from the spectators of the annual All Island Track Meet ring through my ears. Every year, fifth graders from the three elementary schools in our district flock to the local high school track vying for the revered title of best elementary school.…
