It was April 7, 2015; I had just come home from another tedious day of school. I was still on punishment for the 3rd nine weeks report card so I didn’t have a phone and nothing to do so I logged in on facebook to let the time pass by. As soon as I logged in on facebook all I saw was, “Tonight I lost a classmate, fly high Lexi”. I was so confused hoping that there was just another Lexi I I didn’t know so I inboxed Ajaysia Williams on facebook and she confirmed that it was Alexis Haywood and that she was in a car wreck and that it was fatal. My heart dropped instantly. People deal with grief in different ways. Some people dwell in pain instantly and others just bawl up emotions then let it out weeks, months or even years later. In my case I was very indenial at first mainly because we had planned to go to the sand court on Wednesday because volleyball tryouts where shortly approaching. Wednesday had come and I went to the sand court hoping that Lexi would come and say that everyone had got her confused with another blonde, blue eyed girl. I waited for a two …show more content…
When I made it into the funeral home everyone was asked to write their favorite memory with Lexi. The first thing that popped in my head was back my freshman year. We had an away game and we were waiting in the gym for lexi to come, so we could leave for the game. There was no sign of Lexi until 20 minutes went by and we saw lexi bussing in the gym all hyped telling how she had just got in this fight outside and that the girl had broken her nose when clearly there her nose wasn’t broken at all. We had suspected Coach Greenhill to be mad cause she was late and she was fighting, but unexpectedly all she could do was laugh. Lexi had for sure set the mood for the night. After I wrote my favorite memory it was open casket. Something told me not to look at her casket, but I I did anyway and seeing her body as a fragile corpse really dropped my heart into my

“Mia can you go walk A field and the corral?” my supervisor asked over the walkie-talkie as I finished bringing in fifteen excited dogs from group play. By this point I had already walked more than a dozen dogs, fed half the kennel, and taken out over a hundred dogs for one of their daily outings. I was exhausted and now I had to pick up a field full of dog feces.…

The trips were unplanned, as I have traveled to 13 different countries in four continents of the world. At least that was something to brag about after returning home from six years of military service. I would talk about these moments in a heartbeat when topics related to travel surface in conversations. Remembering and reliving those moments brings great fulfillment. Usually, there's a moment in life where I experience home in places I've visited.…

They were in no way my friends, but the circumstances had left us stuck on a bus for 30 minutes with a different group of students who normally wouldn't interact. One girl was very religious and we would eventually ease into a logical debate about religion. Every afternoon as we rode from the school into our old neighborhood. I am a very confrontational person, and when I feel as if one side is understated in an argument, and then I will surely be a member of that side.…

In my earlier years of school, I dreaded going to school and I wasn’t skilled in public speaking. I had a terribly hard time talking to new people and often avoided social situations. These being among the traits many consider unfavorable, I passed up on great opportunities that I had been given due to their social aspect and the potential for me to embarrass myself. Starting my freshman year of highschool, I was aware that adjusting to an independent lifestyle where I worked a job and made my own money was one of my main priorities.…

The first time I had a phone I was in elementary school, and had it for about 2 years. Then as life moved on, and events took place, I was not allowed to have one, and did not have one for almost two years. When I was in fourth or fifth grade I was allowed to have another one and kept it until the sixth grade. My dog had torn it apart, and because of financial reasons, there was only one phone in the house, between three people, and it was a old slide up phone. Not a touch screen…

I remember seldom things in life. Maybe my horrible memory can be attributed to the thousands of Diet Coke I drank as a kid and their alleged nasty side effects to memory. Maybe it’s attributed to my tendency to focus on the minute details and not the whole picture. Or maybe it is just a personal choice, a personal decision to ignore what life has brought me and to somehow use the bits I can recall to construct some fairytale. I wish that this process would have happened when I felt like I was losing everything in my life, but, almost sadistically, I remember everything.…
