Joey: When people think of the local music store, they think of the past. Our society has moved so much towards an online presence to where people click buttons and have stuff delivered to them. I think that the average customer has a yearning to participate in a local community, a store that is somewhat connected to the arts. So they like coming in here. Sometimes there’s people coming in that just want to see old records. And say “ Oh yeah i remember when I had old records.” Nostalgia is a big part of it. But there is also a revival right now. There’s a ton of people who genuinely enjoy listening to music on vinyl more than digital format.
Journalist: Do you see a future for record stores?

Journalist: What sort of genre and or record would you suggest for the first time record buyer?
Joey: I think everybody needs to start with a Beatle record. That’s a great place to start. It’s where a lot of people begin their collection because the Beatles take them on a musical journey. The awesome thing about Beatles’ music is you usually come back to it; it’s music that all through your life you will revisit. You also cannot go wrong with some Pink Floyd, maybe some early Elvis, Buddy Holly, and maybe some Kinks. All in all, having a collection is a neat experience. Start because you love music- let your heart guide you.
Journalist: Do you love your job? A simple yes or no is fine.
Joey: I would say that I enjoy my job, I wouldn’t say that i love it because it is a job. I’m very thankful for it, but the keyword is job. Like anything, there’s days that i love it and days that come in and think why me? Haha.
