When I was born to Jared Houston and Sarah Houston, it was very evident from the early stages of childhood and onward that something was very wrong with me- in a weird, but extraordinary way. The thing was that I was a born magician that possessed magical powers. This had good effects on the world that surrounded me; but unfortunately, in likeness to the amount of good effects, there were bad effects. Sometimes, as a result of the good effects that came with these magical powers, I could heal anything or anyone that had some sort of wound, especially fatal ones, send psychological messages to other people, etc. It was one ordinary day in 4th grade that I discovered just how dangerous my special powers could be- as much as they were useful. …show more content…
I was in the lunchroom, devouring my very-much appreciated nourishments, and because of my age (which was only 9 years above null), I reached out to pick my boogers, which were on the verge of falling out of my nose, and soon disaster had struck. Lightning bolts shot out of my fingers, I was afraid that my phlegm was haunted, and one of the lights in the lunchroom fell. All the kids were safely directed out of the school, and fortunately everyone had evacuated safely, including me. When I evacuated from the school, I saw a teacher with a deep look of what looked like contemplation, and that was when I was interrogated. Any English speaker could tell from a distance that I wasn’t verbally gifted, and I wasn’t exactly a vocabularian. So when the teacher interrogated me, part of what he said was incomprehensible, so he had to dumb it down for me to be able to comprehend. Curse my vocabulary, I thought, as I was able to comprehend what the teacher had just said, and it was beyond what a 9-year old would be asked to do. The teacher told me I had to be locked up in an asylum, apparently because “I was an intelligent kid roaming free with magical

It’s a sunny day and life was good. It was a normal school day. At the time I was only four and I was honestly so excited to go to school and see my best friend. As soon as the car stopped I jumped out and I ran as fast as my little legs can go. I barged into my classroom expecting to see my best friend, but there was a dead silence, something was wrong.…

All I could hear were the crickets, and I saw phone flashlights running through the school. Before I could think twice I was all alone in the dark, creepy school. So, I texted one of my friends to meet me by the library. That we did,we got all the other girls so we could see if the extremely long parent meeting was over. It was not, the first time, but we went to coach Cook’s room anyways.…

A.I believe the most challenging aspect of working in protective services would be not letting your career consume you physically and mentally. About four years ago I was playing club lacrosse for the Villanova Wildcats travel team. I was about thirteen years old when I experienced one of my first significant lessons of failure. At a young age many do not understand the importance of failures and short comings, and how it is essential to learn, grow, and improve. We think success comes easy and without trial which is not realistic. My life changing failure taught me many things: the strength of teamwork, the power of preparation and will, and how to be a better competitor.…

In many ways, individuals often struggle against their fears. The time I experienced this was when I used to ride steers a couple summers ago. It was a hot July day and my dad and I had just finished helping my Rodeo queen sister get ready for carrying flags to start off the rodeo. After when we walked over to the stands to get ready for their riding, I was gearing up to ride one of those beasts they call steers, thinking I was going to get killed.…

Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

“Mia can you go walk A field and the corral?” my supervisor asked over the walkie-talkie as I finished bringing in fifteen excited dogs from group play. By this point I had already walked more than a dozen dogs, fed half the kennel, and taken out over a hundred dogs for one of their daily outings. I was exhausted and now I had to pick up a field full of dog feces.…

The trips were unplanned, as I have traveled to 13 different countries in four continents of the world. At least that was something to brag about after returning home from six years of military service. I would talk about these moments in a heartbeat when topics related to travel surface in conversations. Remembering and reliving those moments brings great fulfillment. Usually, there's a moment in life where I experience home in places I've visited.…

During my senior year of High School, I have dealt with a negative educational experience that has changed my life to this day. In the month of November of 2014, I was waiting for an acceptance letter from Stockton University hopefully to obtain a career in Occupational Therapy. Throughout High School I became an excellent student having a 3.9 GPA, attending various amounts of community service, and was a varsity player for lacrosse and cheerleading. While completing these accomplishments, I have dealt with a major health issue that has impacted my life. Unfortunately, my hopes of getting into the school was shattered.…

There was not a single piece of leather furniture that lacked an intricate map I had scratched into it with my grubby four-year-old fingernails. Every wall and flat surface had Sharpie murals of vast cotton candy skies and family trees made of dogs as soon as I discovered how to hold a pen. My parents never tried to stifle my creativity. They urged me to pursue artistry and offered every tool conceivable to develop my creative skills. Growing up hearing my father jam out on guitar and watching my mother lose herself painting silk (among the many other hobbies they both tend to), my inspiration never ran dry.…

I felt the urge to run out of the classroom. I about cried, but, I swallowed and sat in my desk with a thump. I remembered the words my mom had told me on my first day of kindergarten before her drunk alter ego took over, "Just imagine me singing your favorite song that helps you through everything, My little sunshine" Her soft voice repeated in my head. My thoughts were interrupted by Kyle forcibly shaking me. I blankly stared at the teacher, I didn't even know her name, "What?…

This article is, in my opinion, an example of how personal narrative can sometime confuse the author’s purpose. In order to frame her arguments she discussed her experiences with her family, and specifically how she was born a twin to a stillborn sister. She explains her families lack of coping and how her family effected her life, but I failed to focus on the overarching idea that she wanted to get out because of how distracting the stories from her personal life are. Instead found myself thinking that her story was strangely personal without much justification for why it was this way. While the point of her article, the balance between truth and respect, was somewhat present overall, the sections of personal narrative that she decided to include muddled it.…
