Beginning junior year, I occupied myself with the most constructive investment in my life. My daily routine was bland, but oddly hailed as the ultimate path to victory. I was learning in school, but the learning lacked meaning. Plot lines and mathematical formulas were unavailing ideas, which I tepidly regurgitated. I concluded that a life permeated with monotonous toil was not worth celebrating on my day of judgment.…

We began planning for the trip months in advance saving money, gathering supplies, and making reservations. We toiled through this segment of planing making sure that all of the details of the trip would be perfect. One of the hardest things that I first experienced while growing up was my dad being deported but it it was easy to overcome thanks to my mom making sure that she took up both roles as a maternal and paternal figure. I learned that sometimes life throws in some rough times but I have to suck it up and just move on in life. However, the most memorable and painful experience was me shattering my tibia not being able to walk for six months. I broke my tibia and stayed at the hospital for three days to get an external fixation instead of a cast. I ended up in a wheelchair, many routine check ups and having to stay at home for three weeks making me fall behind in school.…

As I stood in an unfamiliar building full of unfamiliar faces, I choose to do the only thing that made me comfortable—be alone. On the nerve-racking first day of school, I had no intentions of being social. I went straight to my vacant first hour, even though class did not start for twenty minutes. In fact, for almost the whole year I continuted to brake the norm of socializing and headed straight to first hour when the bus dropped me off. I discovered it was beneficial to organize myself before the day started, or at least that’s what I told myself.…
