It was a typical Friday night. I had finished all my classes around two thirty and had the rest of the afternoon to finish up homework due at midnight. I didn’t feel like going out that evening, because the frigid air made the thought journeying downtown to party, very unappealing. However my roommate did not share the same sentiments. She was bored and restless in the room. She kept pestering me, “what we should do tonight?” “Don’t you want to go out?” I would have told her no but I knew that the rest of my night would be filled with her complaining about how we should have gone out to party. Still trying to dissuade her from going out, I responded by telling her that I would go out, but I didn’t know anywhere to go. Which was in fact true, I didn’t know of any parties or events taking place on campus or downtown. However my roommate was relentless, she contacted all the people she knew and asked them for the addresses of parties’ downtown.

All of the tests, papers and lectures that students do to further their academic success builds anticipation for the weekends social opportunities. Partying can be maybe be use as a reward for all the weeks hard work. You look forward to the relaxation and freedom that is ushered in on Friday nights. For some students it’s a freedom they've never experienced coming from home. Some students see college as an opportunity to make their own rules, and take this chance to experience all the things they've seen on t.v. As a high school student I was rarely allowed to party or to be out the house later than 11pm. The summer before my first semester in college I was eager to get away and be able to what I wanted without any parental

Throughout high school, I never felt like my experience matched the status quo or what was expected to happen. I chose to stay home instead of attending a party. If I stayed up late at night, it was from completing a homework assignment. The article surprised me when it claimed “18-year-olds now act more like 15-year-olds” (Twenge 7). It relieved me, as well, because it demonstrated it was not unordinary to go out less.…

I could relate to with this word because there was a time where I felt I was going through it and experiencing a sympathetic division. It was Sunday in the afternoon and my little brother, who at the time is ten years old, was having his soccer game take place. Crowds around the field were very tense because of the two teams being big rivals. As well as the crowds be tensed up so were the players with each other. While the game went by there were many times in which the players were having conflicts with each other, causing the anger around everyone to increase.…

As a first generation college student, this all was something very foreign to me and my family— but I was intrigued by it.…

If I personally got asked the question about where I consider my parents to be in the spectrum of hyper, my first initial thought would be to put them pretty high on the spectrum. The reasoning for this initial response is because I always remember ever since I was little my parents pushing me academically and being there for me. I think they started to become more hyper after I got lost in South Korea and my parents ended up having to contact the police to find me. I’m sure that must have been a terrifying moment for my parents as losing a child is one of the worst things that could happen to a parent. I can relate to the video we watched, as when the mother was considering putting a microchip inside her daughter to track her, to a regular…
