Years ago when I was in middle school, I would typically spend time with the same people. Resulting in not being fully aware of my other classmates and the controversy that occurred. Though one day I noticed a girl who had quite long straight hair. She had a little dawn-tinted bow that would sustain her side bangs, while her skin was a lightish brown. The girl was called out by other students, preferably girls when we were lined up in line in the hallway with half the class. Supposedly she didn't know how to stay away from people's business she was considered to be annoying and disturbing. Not having the slightest clue of who she was in that instant and what her name could have been even though every student in my class would have the same classmates. The girl tried to defend herself, although it was useless. Observing the argument urged me to interfere, however, something was holding me back. Everything was progressing rapidly. It was only her against a couple of girls. …show more content…
I decided to try to talk to her during lunch time. It was quite awkward at first. We chatted more frequently as days went by. We usually talked about our favorite things to do and what we would do in our free time. We became close friends: the more time we spend, I realized she wasn't a horrible person, she would treat me with respect. Plus, she knew how to make me laugh. Though she had a crude way of expressing herself, it was understandable. She was used to people being extremely rude to her that she thought it was okay for her to do the same. Although, I would tell her she shouldn't put much importance on those type of people since they usually do it for attention or to feel

I am going to be talking about the time that I saw someone I didn’t like being picked on. Once I was at a horse show with everyone I rode horses with. I liked most everyone and I assume the opposite was true as well. There was, however, one boy whom I didn’t get along with very well. We had fought the year before about this show and the drama got to him.…

Ana Perez Cortes Sociology 101 M-W 9 am Breaking Social Norms There are many norms in our society that tells us how to act in a certain situation. They were trying to leave someone out just because they had a disability. Although my classmates then and I may not have realized, now as I look back on the situation I see what they were doing. They were trying to exclude him instead of including him because they thought he was different. Instead of getting to the know the boy and becoming his friend they were treating him unfairly. Although he wasn’t in my class and before this experience I didn’t really see or have classmates with disabilities it did upset me to see the boy being treated like that.…

In fifth grade I had this teacher named Ms. Gonzalez, who was really into theater, and she was always telling us about her plays. She was full of character, full of creativity, and so much fun to be around! Her and I easily connected in that year, and a few other students had no problem softening up to her as well, but it seemed only a selected few really got to her. When the recess bell rang, Ms. Gonzalez had told me and two other girls to stay after class, and of course I didn’t move from my seat as the kids filed out. I waited patiently as she checked for the two other girls, one of my best friends named Ali and another friend named Alizza.…

It was the first day of cross country at Notre Dame. I had very minimal experience with running and even less with the strangers on my team. My coach, Coach George, tried to ease the social atmosphere by grouping all of the freshmen together before practice so we could get to know each other. I had arrived early and stood with one other girl as we made polite small-talk. More girls began congregating, and we started talking with each other, but there was a definite tension.…

Moving into a new town, new school, and new house - which was anything but easy for a sixth grader - we desperately wanted to fit in and settle in. My sister and I wanted ourselves known to everyone. Completing the first week in our new house, we went out to a walk to the park where we could see the neighborhood kids hanging out. Of course as sixth graders we were very reckless in observing people. Without anything in mind we walked up to a girl our age and introduced ourselves, the girl introduced her as Marissa and we soon fired up a conversation.…

When it come to defining the word education, there is no true definition. You can look it up in a dictionary and see what it says, but you may not always agree with it. Some may say education has to just do with school and getting an education. But other may say it’s the lessons that you learn along the way. To me, education means learning a lesson or skill that you will carry with you for the rest of your life whether it was in school or during an impacting moment in your life.…

On November 4, 2016, at 3:30pm in the afternoon, I got the opportunity to shadow St. Paul’s third grade preschool. The purpose was to study child behaviors and link it to certain developmental stages. The experience was unique in its self because most of the kids in there were ETS. This proved as a challenge to communicate with the kids who 's English was broken up. Though through my observation I have learned that no matter what ;language or ethnicity a child speaks, they still go through the same patterns of development.…
