She woke up the way no one wants to: alone, afraid, and not particularly sure of her whereabouts. While panicking seemed to be the most enjoyable action for someone in this scenario, she decided that logic would be the most effective way to cope. As her eyes adjusted to the dim morning light she was able to tell that she was sitting on a bed in a rural shack. Around her were very few items, a dresser on the opposite wall, a nightstand next to the bed, and a dusty and rotting wood chair. The walls were wood, as well as the ceiling and floor, but they were stripped and peeling, worn down by years of water damage and termite infestations. She also noticed an open doorway leading to what appeared to be the kitchen and a streaked glass window close to the ceiling. She noted that she was not tied up nor gagged and had no obvious …show more content…
It was mostly barren, containing only a dirty sink, an ice box, a hot plate, and a shelf full of mismatched dishes. There was what she assumed to be a food prep area as well as a dining table, complete with two rickety chairs. She didn’t see anything hinting at where she was or how she got there. This would be the moment that any normal person would use to: 1. Search the shack for a cell phone or any other means of communication. Or 2. Run out the door screaming for help and hoping to find someone. She chose the second option. Flinging herself towards the door she opened it and ran outside. She was met with a hot sun above her and burning sand scorching her feet as she sprinted down the shore. Tears started to stream down her face as she was hit by the realization that she would most likely die here. She came to a halt, panting from running and sobbing from frustration and confusion. She sank down to her knees, trying to slow down her breathing but ultimately failing. She sat there and sobbed for a few long minutes as the waves crashing into the shore washed over her legs and
