About four years ago I was playing club lacrosse for the Villanova Wildcats travel team. I was about thirteen years old when I experienced one of my first significant lessons of failure. At a young age many do not understand the importance of failures and short comings, and how it is essential to learn, grow, and improve. We think success comes easy and without trial which is not realistic. My life changing failure taught me many things: the strength of teamwork, the power of preparation and will, and how to be a better competitor.…

There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

The topic of mechanic work is so engaging to me that I lose track of time. Just being under the car or truck and looking at the engine. Just being around cars and learning about how they work has made me lose track of time. I love it. Just being able to hear the engine turn over after me and my dad worked on the car, it amazing.…

For the first time I confronted the fear of death was when I was thirteen years old. As usually my classmates and I were getting ready for the next class. As the bell was ringing, my teacher was coming into the classroom. When I unconsciously looked in front, I saw my friend cutting herself. My throat closed up; I reached out my hand to grab a friend sitting right beside me so that she can realize something was wrong.…

Instead found myself thinking that her story was strangely personal without much justification for why it was this way. While the point of her article, the balance between truth and respect, was somewhat present overall, the sections of personal narrative that she decided to include muddled it.…
