This also ended up being my favorite series at the time. I had a really good time reading the books from that series for pure fact that they were understandable. Back then I dreaded reading a lot, so it was difficult to get hooked on to any book. I would go into a book with the intention to read it because it sounded interesting. After one page of my full attention, I would start to zone off and think of other things. I would be reading the words of the book and everything but my mind would be somewhere else. This was caused by one of two reasons. Either the book was too difficult for my level or it just didn't grab the reader's attention as well as it should. So I discovered Diary Of A Wimpy Kid. Directly from book number 1, it grabbed my attention. The book had lots of imagery and not to many words. The book drew a lot of attention from a visual standpoint which kept the reader engaged. I enjoyed the series so much I continued to read the book annually when they’d release new ones. Typically finding the new book at the school library not checked out was a struggle. I think the author Jeff Kinney did a very good job writing these books and targeting young readers to help them
