Another example taking it back a few years; in 1898, Harvard’s football team held a banquet to celebrate the end of a dramatic year. They had completed an unbeaten season. The featured speaker, Teddy Roosevelt, was as we’ve seen, was an energetic orator and a huge football fan as mentioned in previous lectures.…

Technology has developed so much over the years that we have relied on it so much. Technology is used in pretty much everything we use nowadays. Living in a neighborhood was the greatest advantage, but having kids the same age as I was even better. There was never a time we weren't outside: rain, shine, snow, miserably cold, or even scorchingly hot. There was 4 of us: 3 girls and 1 guy, all around the same age.…

In small-town Mississippi, I was always taught that being Conservative was the only way to be and that thinking any other way would go completely against my religion. That being said for the majority of my life I believed I was a Republican until I turned 16 and realized that I agree with very little of what Conservatives do. I now consider myself to be an Independent who leans liberal and the thought of changing my views is pretty unfathomable at this point. However, if I really had to contemplate doing that I would have to consider my few objections to the typical view of Liberals, and that would mostly have to deal with my thoughts on abortion.…

When I was born, per my father, whenever you would talk to me, I wouldn’t show any reaction towards you. The only time I would ever react is when my mother was screaming about something and I would look around the room for the sound. In third grade, I would always get in trouble, perhaps because I didn’t listen when I was supposed to. This changed as soon as I got my hearing aids. I remember the molding of the hearing aid being stuck into ears, which felt like there was cold water in my ears.…

In elementary school, one of my teachers was especially infamous for humiliating students. I remember him loudly shaming one of my classmates, scoffing at the work turned in. Another moment that stuck with me was when I had stayed in during tutorial for help with math concepts, and he became increasingly angry when I made a mistake on the problems. I ended up developing a deep-seated fear of rejection. I generally avoided talking to my teachers for help from then on, hoping that the lack of interaction meant they would not give me grief over the mistakes I would make.…

If only I hadn’t had that accident I would not be where I am today. Every day I am thankful and grateful for the accident that I was involved in while in Iraq. I always said while joking but serious at the same time, that God if I was not in the military I will give myself to you completely in ministry. A few months while deployed to Iraq my vehicle was hit with an I.E.D. and the armor truck rolled down a hill on top of me and shattered my right knee and many other injuries.
