Improved Essays
I’m a very untraditional student. That be from the many places and schools I’ve been to. To all the barriers I’ve had to overcome to be here today. My life has been filled with many challenges and exiting moments such as: moving to another country, learning a new language, serving my community, and playing important roles in my school. At the end, what defines me and my character is the experience and hardships I’ve endured throughout the years.

I was born in the United States, but moved to Mexico after forth grade because my mom was deported. At first, the new environment was challenging because I had to learn Spanish and transition to a new culture. Following the end of 8th grade, I was given an opportunity to start High School with my aunt.

That year I worked hard and soon my handwork paid off, because I was placed in honers and by years end I was introduced to IB. At the end of that year I would also begin my journey through a total of four High Schools, three cities, two states, and four different homes. For me, moving between relatives was the only way I could continue my education. It has been a challenge for me to be moving a lot, but I always try my best and persevere each time.

Everything I am. Including my past and my hardships has shaped my character. I have always had a transcendence character. Being future-oriented made me decide to move and study in the United States. In addition to this I have always been inspired by great minds like John Addams and Felipe Calderon.

Since secondary school, I’ve help leadership positions. Theses positions range from vice-president and secretary. This year I’m the senior class president. Getting elected was a fun new experience. I ran my own two week campaign and invested a lot of time into my posters and ads. At the end it was worth it, because now I get to be part of something greater then myself. Also, this year, Alison, myself, and senior council co-founded the Senior Club. We created this club because in our mind, it wasn't fair for only four people to plan all the senior

In life, there are few places where we go and feel completely at comfort. A place where our guards are down and we can take a break from the chaotic world outside. Where you can rip off the mask of yourself that you show strangers and be truly yourself with no fear of being ridiculed. This place, for me, is Clark University. It is hard to describe in words why, but as soon as I stepped onto the grounds of the university I knew that it was where I was meant to belong.…

It is because of their sacrifices and hard work that I have been able to become the person I am today. As a result of the various science related classes that I have taken, I intend to study biomedical engineering.…

I entered Clark with an understanding that in my senior year I would be taking both undergraduate and graduate-level classes. For that reason, I attempted to complete as many of my requirements, especially the ones I perceived to be the most difficult, earlier on in my academic career. The Community Development and Planning track requires undergrads to take two courses their senior year therefore I scheduled each semester so that I could take these required courses during my senior year. I have two requirements left for my International Development and Social Change major and I will be completing one in each semester. Additionally, I have one requirement left for Women's and Gender Studies, and three for a possible Spanish Minor.…

The teacher, Ms. Roberts, was handing back the MCT2 test scores from the previous year, which was fourth grade, and I absolutely could not wait to see mine. These are some of the very few main ideas I plan on using to help me be successful and or get through the year at CBK. To be a successful student at CBK I feel it's mostly about time management since this schooling program is for students who want to succeed in life it's either succeed or fail to me because we get to choose to come and leave as we please. My idea to be successful is to attend as much schooling as I possibly can to speed up the process of learning more material CBK has to offer. Coming from a small town in Oregon i know communication and asking for help to be successful in life isn't a problem to communicate. The idea of showing up the majority of the time is to educate myself to the fullest and learn as much material being taught at CBK as i can this year.…

Before beginning this assignment I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen in the twenty-four hour period. I was going to keep my phone on me as a clock only, so I was not late to any of my lectures, I was going to carry a sketchbook around with me all day, and the only difference between that day and any other day was going to be that I would not be texting anyone or checking my e-mail all day. However, I was later proved completely wrong and that day was nothing like I thought it would be. I did carry a sketchbook with me all day and I sketched Geisel library, Conrad Prebys Music Center and the sunset over the cliffs.…
