As hard as my relationship was with Thomas, I am grateful for what I learned from being with him. I learned that I am a strong and an independent person. I didn’t need him to make me feel secure and happy. According to Mendenhall (2014), intimacy dances work best when they support both people (Mendenhall, 2014b). I won’t sacrifice myself to a relationship again because the outcome will never make me happy.…
I walk back to our bench after warm ups. My heart is racing as I look at the crowd, it seems like the stands are packed. I sit down as my fellow teammates form a tunnel for the starters to run through. Coach C. begins to list off the Creede starters. After he names the last Creede starter he announces, “Now put your hand together for your home Pirates!”…

A Hero's Journey The last month of summer before my junior year started was occupied with pondering and wondering what I wanted to accomplish during the upcoming school year. Sure, junior year sounds like a blast, filled with fun memories and friends. But it also doubles as approaching the cliff of adulthood that I would hit in two short years. Every step I take my junior and senior year will be one step closer to that ledge.…
College Essay Growing up in New Haven, Connecticut there weren’t big mansions, people with expensive cars, nor any sign of wealth .It ’s a small city filled with homeless people, violence and poor neighborhoods that made me into the person I am today. A city so small you see the same people everyday.…
Everyone can say that they always imagined or wanted to look up to someone whether if the person was famous or related to them. Throughout my teenage day I’ve always wanted someone to mentor me and show me things in life that I can one day use in the future years to come. I didn’t want a mentor that was a few years older I always wanted someone that was almost twice my age, maybe even older than me. My mentor that I will be talking about name is James. James and I met at my job throughout my time working there I have worked with many managers.…
When I think of Hy-Vee, I think of family. I think of helpful people, hard work, and fun. Hy-Vee has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From before I was born, it has been my family’s go-to grocery store--the epitome of convenience and dependability. So, it was natural for me to look for a job there when I turned 16.…
I remember my sister Mary telling me, “I want you to take these classes so it can prepare you in the future, you have the opportunity to take these and learn what I should have learned, but we all learn from our mistakes, I just want you to make good life decisions and be proud of you.” (Salazar, Mary. Personal interview. August 2012). At first I did not know what my sister was talking about.…
That's what people on Twitter who only tweet about where they are, what they're doing, what they're eating, etc are doing. They're telling their audience that they are not worth any more than giving them random content. The point is if you brand yourself through giving, give something of value. Create Brand Value Yes, I know.…
When I was in the sixth grade my maternal grandfather was diagnosed Multiple Myeloma. I didn’t know much about what it was but I knew it was bad. It was cancer and as I sixth grader I knew that cancer was a scary word typically used to describe some sort of disease that would later turn fatal. My grandfather wasn’t given a sentence, none of us were sat down by the doctor and told we sound be preparing our goodbyes, we were told that the cancer wouldn’t kill him and to go on living a normal life.…
For my interview I chose to ask my grandfather, Papa to me and Tom Conley to everyone else, to answer some questions about serving on jury duty. My grandpa is 75 and suffering from severe parkinson 's disease, while living at an assisted living facility in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. In his earlier years he worked as a successful and witty car salesman, who could make anyone laugh or smile from his hilarious - and socially unacceptable- jokes or comments. I was not sure that he would be up for answering questions being that he is having trouble with his memory, but he gave great intel on his experience and was so excited that he could be involved in my project, as well as hear about my high school curriculum. About ten years ago, my grandpa…
Baylee, Trevor, and then Dylan. Growing up, I was always third. Thats just the way it has been. Third to start school. Third to drive.…
Interview of a family member I have selected to interview my grandfather. The main reason for that is because I have learned many things from the stories and experiences that he has shared with me about his life. I will be comparing my grandpa’s life as a teen in the 1960’s to the life of a teenager now days using the knowledge that we both have to offer ,even though he was not living in Canada during his teen years. In general being a teenager in the 1960’s was different compared to being a teenager in 2016 due to some factors such as the changing trends, lifestyles and cost of living and technology.…
