K-Rad is the stage name of a friend of mine who writes, records and performs original hip-hop music. While they are one of my friends, the rapper K-Rad has always interested me. K-Rad, in my opinion, is a piece of who my friend is. K-Rad obviously comes from something deeper down, something completely honest and straight forward. They are just a fraction of who my friend is, but that does not make them any less than my real friend. I decided I should interview my friend about K-Rad to learn more about their inspiration, hopes and goals as a musician. The first thing about K-Rad is the music. While K-Rad is a person, they also encapsulate a bigger musical idea. For example, when they play live shows, K-Rad will be backed by a band consisting of a DJ, drummer, guitarist, bass guitarist and guest vocalists. However, this act will still go on stage as K-Rad, rather than some group featuring K-Rad. The band adds a lot of …show more content…
Aside from music, K-Rad has a passion for graphic design and plans to pursue it professionally – while attempting to become famous in the process. After that, K-Rad picked up percussion in elementary school for a mandated music class. Aside from that, K-Rad would start to meet fellow musicians who inspired them to learn other instruments such as guitar, bass and, most importantly, rapping. Rapping was not something that came easily to K-Rad, but the rhythm, flow and cleverness of their favorite rappers inspired them to

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

A Thousand Experiences Throughout life, individuals face different obstacles and struggles; my obstacle was my tendency to be shy. For example, when I was faced with social pressures like speaking in front of a class for a presentation, or meeting new people, I would be a nervous wreck. My palms would sweat, my voice would tremble, and it took all the strength I could muster to overcome my irrational fears. I only had a small, albeit close knit group of friends due to my introverted ways.…

Eventually I learned to play the piano as well, at age twelve in the seventh grade. That same year, I enrolled myself into the school choir. This decision changed my life because I learned that music is where my heart is.
