Everyone has experienced some sort of atrocious pain in their lives. At one point in my life I did not believe I will ever walk again. A troubling life changing event occurred when I was just fourteen years old. Every evil thought was occurring in my head all at once. “You won’t walk anymore”, “You won’t heal”, “Time can’t change this”, all thoughts that were going through my mind while being in a wheelchair.…
On 12-03-2015 at approximately 1745 hours I Officer Hildebrand, Officer Patrick Sullivan and Sgt. Joseph Harris were dispatched to 630 N D St. for report of an assault in progress. While en route Dispatch notified me saying the male individual assaulting the victim was Kevin Meyer. I had dealt with Kevin Meyer earlier in my shift. While driving East on West Gallatin I spotted Kevin 's pickup headed West on Gallatin.…
I kept the same habits from high school, where I wouldn't ask for help even if I needed it, and tried to do things entirely on my own. Since that wasn't working, and the end of the semester nearing, I did something I never did back in high school: I sought tutor help. The tutor I met with, Cecilia, not only helped me craft near perfect lab reports that were needed to narrowly pass the class, she also inspired me to be a better person. It turns out, which I later found out, that university tutors are not required to help with lab reports. Thus, it occurred to me that Cecilia helped me out of her own whim.…
I remember my sister Mary telling me, “I want you to take these classes so it can prepare you in the future, you have the opportunity to take these and learn what I should have learned, but we all learn from our mistakes, I just want you to make good life decisions and be proud of you.” (Salazar, Mary. Personal interview. August 2012). At first I did not know what my sister was talking about.…
I interviewed Oscar's teacher as well as the professional support vision, and one on one aide. For his regular teacher I asked him about Oscar's strengths and weakness in the classroom. He told me that Oscar is very docile and polite student. He is learnable quickly. He follows the directs and do exactly whatever I ask him to do.…
Life is rough you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow or the day after that and so on... My interviewees' name is Ms.Kea and she is an Educational Assistant. When I came for my interview I got greeted by a kind, happy, assistant teacher that looks like every teacher does a person that wants to help their students to the best possible way. After we talked for a while Ms.Kea and I went to go sit down to start the interview while passing my some friends from last year and passing my earlier teachers. Then we finally go to the spot where we would start the interview outside her classroom in the seventh-grade hall.…
During grades second, fourth, and fifth grade most of my teachers thought that I had a learning disability because I would read at a slower pace than my peers. In second grade, my teacher singled me out of the other groups that my classmates were majority in and she put me in a group, where the other students were barely adjusting to English as a second language. I was only about six or seven-years-old, when that event happened to me. Therefore, I started to believe that something was wrong with me, so I started practicing reading how much words I could read a minute by my mother timing me on an alarm…
Interview Paper When this project was introduced, I began thinking about whom I was going to interview. My senior year of high school I cadet taught at an elementary school. I was in a general education classroom that year but I was also introduced to students with special needs.…
I inquired her background and experiences as well, she worked as a special education teacher for six years and she loved this job. I also asked her how to treat ID students and she replied that special education teachers needed to use repetition, hands-on learning, use multi learning methods (auditing, visual, etc.) to teach students. I also asked what may be the best way to foster the relationship between the special education teacher and the regular education teacher. She suggested that open communication was the best way to do…
-Erica is a bright and capable student who maintains high achievement throughout my work with her. Although the program she is a very difficult as it is an intensive program were student are both in the classroom as wells being based for three days a week in a clinical setting, Erica maintained her work ethic. She attainted high standing in my class and was in the top 5% of her cohort. As her educator, I had the opportunity to mark midterm, her essay as well as her final and found that her ability to maintain a crucial focal point while simultaneously furthering her engagement with the bigger picture. While her work in the classroom was excellent, much was also gained through her classroom participation in various discussions.…
1.) If I were working with a high school student who asked me if I had every smoked marijuana, I would probably tell him that we are not meeting to discuss me. However, I would be open to sharing that I was once his age and I know that the peer pressure that students experience in high school can be difficult to deal with. I am not too sure that I would ever feel comfortable sharing my personal information, because clients are not coming to hear about what I am dealing with, they are coming to have me help them process what is going on in their life.…
When I was seven years old, I was diagnosed with ADHD in combination with a severe processing delay. Having and dealing with a learning disability is by no means easy, and there are times when I feel as though I don't quite make the cut. Despite my self-consciousness, I have come to learn over the years that having a learning disability does not make me disabled and that my deficits do not have to define me. With that notion in mind, I have managed to compensate for many of my shortcomings and have accomplished truly incredible things over the course of my life: I have become a member of the National Honor Society, have been in the top 20% of my class for three years running, have sung in one of the famed recital halls at Carnegie Hall with…
When I was drawing up questions to interview with I didn’t know what to ask as far as questions go. I interviewed Mrs. Alicia Martin and she is a Special Education Teacher at Crestwood High School in Cresco, Iowa. I found questions to ask that would to me into the right direction. I was hoping to get a special education teacher more than a student aid because I felt that a special education teacher would have more to offer when it comes to different factors dealing with IEC and would also have their hands more involved in the students learning. I also wanted to know about how students with special needs still get the same amount of physical education as the rest of the student body.…
Now that we know what types of questions were asked during the interview, we can get to know each person. For the students with an exceptionality, I interviewed Laura, Laura lost her vision at a young age, but was willing to meet with me and allowed me to get to know her and her disability. I interviewed Julia for the next interview, Julia’s son is a fourth grader who has cerebral palsy. Lastly, I interviewed Mrs. Gierstorf, she teaches technology to elementary aged kids and could provide me with helpful tips in my future classroom. These three interviews impacted my learning of working with students with exceptionalities because I could gain insights on what I may be working with in my future classroom.…
First of all I would like to start my paper with detailed information about schools that I had my observation experiences at. I visited three different classrooms in two different schools. First classroom I visited was at Kiser Dayton Public School, preschool classroom with IEP and special education program. Second school was Horizon Science Academy, where I observed fifth grade and recourse room. Lastly I visited Kiser schools again, and observed Self contained multiple disability classrooms.…
