Personal Narrative: An Interview With A Police Officer

On Saturday, July 8, 2017, at approximately 1:24 AM, partner Officer Griffin (#3135) and I were on uniformed patrol in a marked police vehicle (Unit #21) as 3A21. Officer Griffin was the driver, and I was the front passenger. We were monitoring the police radio and responded to a call regarding a woman screaming that she had been shot at 104 W. Peoria St. We responded “Code-3” with emergency lights and sirens.

Upon our arrival, we were flagged down by a citizen who was standing by with the victim. The citizen was later interviewed by Officer Arrelanes (#0495). The camera faced south, directly at the driveway where the victim was. Officer Arrelanes spoke to the Post Office personnel. See Officer Arrelanes’ add report for more details.

Officer Travnitz (#8502), Officer Castillo (#1314), Officer Bisterfeldt(#0720), Sergeant Peinado (#6977), and I canvassed Peoria St. from Fair Oaks Ave. to Lincoln Ave. for blood trails or shell casings. We did not find any blood trails or shell casings.

Officer Arrelanes spoke to the Post Office, took photos of the scene, street and vehicles parked on the street. See Officer Arrelanes’ add report for more details.
