Personal Narrative: An Interview With A Pastor

For the interview with a pastor, Pastor Brett Bergstrom, from Calvary Chapel Surprise agreed to be interview. He sits as Senior Pastor, and has over 5,000 people in his congregation. The reason Pastor Brett was chosen to interview is that he has been my pastor for four years. Pastor Brett is the perfect person for this interview because it gave me a chance to ask some tough question and hear his personal responses. Pastor Brett was a life taught pastor until the last few years he went back to college for his Theology Degree. He is a person that someone could look up to, and find renewed purpose and spiritual direction. His positions on life and on education in Theology are the same as mine.
Pastor Brett has big goals for the church, as his vision is for more outreach in the community.

This progression has given him opportunity, to work on his effective communication and leadership skill. Pastor Brett acknowledged that he is human and would not be as effective without his support staff and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Knowing your short comings and building up people around you is the second most important step, second to being always in prayer. Pastor Brett’s key thing in this interview was prayer. Always be diligent in prayer and devotion; allowing the Holy Spirit’s work to be done through you, and remembering it is not your church but the Lord’s church. Pastor Brett always took time to fully understand the question and then took time to come up with a response. Showing how Christ is his example, he was quick to listen and slow to speak. Pastor Brett is a very effective communicator. He stated he wish he was college educated before moving into his role in the church, but now realizes how important becoming college educated is. Pastor Brett said always remember you can always learn more and never stop
