Personal Narrative: An Art Museum Worthy

Improved Essays
I've always tried to put my best effort into my work. Even in preschool I wanted my painting to be art museum worthy. That meant my artwork would be put on the board for the whole class to see. I wanted to commit to my work and do so diligently. I felt a sense of completion with the other kids, and I have ever since. I wanted the best. To me, even at a young age, life is about striving for perfection, and I am still figuring out if that is a good thing or not. Up until my sophomore year of high school, I would put my best work into school and sports, with a goal to improve, ultimately to succeed. I had such a strong desire to thrive, but I was unsure how to get there. I would fall short of the top tier, which caused me distress and anxiety. …show more content…
For instance, I had a friend who was really smart and successful, and never hesitated to tell me about her successes. I felt motivated, pressured even, to be like her in order to benefit my future. I was often compared to her, and it opened my eyes to the fact that I had a choice: I could sit back and give up and not care, or I could get up and do whatever was necessary to improve. I was able to reflect on my past triumphs and losses, and use those as stepping stones propriety. In addition, my high school volleyball coach told me at tryouts that if I improved between then and the start of the season, I would be moved up to varsity. I had the whole summer in order to improve, and I took this to heart, using my time off to put my whole heart into the sport I loved to get better. I got an email that said "Congrats, you made it. See you at practice." I looked back on that moment and realized, that my hard work finally paid off and it just took some time. This journey was a rollercoaster of emotions. I initially felt a sense of pride and hope, realizing that I would only get better with practice. I saw my skills in volleyball greatly improve, and my academic success is slowly getting more and more constant in success. Finally, I realized that accomplishment takes a lot of time and effort, and does not happen simply over night. With patience, I was able to see a difference in

My trip to the Barnes Foundation museum was enjoyable and informative. On my trip, as we moved through the galleria I was astounded by how the rooms in the galleria were arranged. It was not like your average museum, with one or two paintings on the walls with a description of it underneath. Instead, there were rooms with paints all over the walls, along with iron work that correlated with the pieces. Our tour guide elaborated on how he did not wish for there to be a description under the pieces of art stating their background.…

We all have a small voice in our head that talks to us as we go about our day. It may ask us, “what’s for dinner?” in the middle of class, keep us awake at night, and tells us when we’re feeling happy or sad. In our day to day life, we are subconsciously dependent on this voice. Sometimes we listen to everything it says, and sometimes we ignore it.…

One accomplishment that took a great deal of effort was lacrosse. Right from the start of freshman year, I knew that I wanted to become a good lacrosse player, enough to make an impact on the game. I did numerous clinics and leagues for two years straight, I worked as hard as I possibly could to become the player I wanted to be. Throughout my training, there were times where I felt like I was never going to be as good as I longed to be, but my family and my coach motivated me to work through because they felt that the hard work would be worth it. Whenever I was feeling like this, I would always turn to them because they reminded me of how hard I worked and how great I would feel once I felt the reward.…

It all started in senior year of high school, a moment where, because of my lack of effort at certain times of my teenage life, I was left with very few options regarding where I could go pursue my education after graduating high school. It is important to emphasize that although I wasn’t sure what exactly I was capable of, I was sure that I was capable of great things and high school failed to inspire me to become the best person I could be. I was disoriented yet self-assured. Luckily, thanks to some thoughtful people who guided me in the right moment, I was able to get in to the Macklin Business Institute at Montgomery College and I was given the opportunity to try out and get recruited to play for MC soccer team. The experiences that followed…

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

The best college students learn very quickly that the best thing that they can do is never give up, discover something new every day, work with the community as best as they can and show great respect for the learning community. They also learn that service to the community is essential and they do this by helping others and making them stronger learners. Although Bain’s book does a very good job of explaining all of these values, the one that stands out to me is that of discovery. Discovery stands out because in order to learn you must find/discover something new every day in order to be the best learner that you can be. Stories that Exemplify Discovery…

“For very young children, making art -- or just talking about it- provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes, and actions” (Lynch). It is vital for a child to learn the importance of art early in their life so that they can choose whether or not they will be dedicated to pursue a career involving art skills. Learning about these basic forms of art at an early age gives children more insight in preparation for their educational life. “Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development” (Lynch).
