Even when the beauty surrounded me, The mosquitos would not forget about the scent, I then looked like a huge walking mosquito bite. The mosquitos gave me what felt like millions of bites even though there were probably at least 50. When the mosquito attached to my arm it felt like a paint brush swiping against my arm. Why do mosquitos and gnats have to be alive? I would be a lot more comfortable hiking right now if they were not living. The mosquitos and gnats were attacking me probably because they thought I was invading their territory. Amicalola Falls is probably my favorite place besides all the dirty awful bugs everywhere! The little bug was staring at my arm like it would attack like a Hawk, I suddenly decided that I would

I arrive at camp, Camp Long Lake, some people call it a great merry place, others, they would prefer to watch paint dry. At least so I’ve heard. Now I’ve been forced to come to this place due to my inadequate decisions and treating people poorly. So I can only speculate that this week will be an atrocious one.…

Rathdrum, Idaho Where you are from does not define who you are, but it does shape you into the person you are today. So if you were to ask me where I was from I would gladly tell you I am from Rathdrum, Idaho. A small town where only a few truly know what is like to live here and only a few know how amazing this small city truly is. Rathdrum has been the only place I have ever really known; growing up and being raised here I never have had the appreciation for where I lived.…

Lemoore, California. The 559, the 93245, the small rural town located in the central region of the San Joaquin Valley. A place that will melt flip flops to the ground in the summer, yet it will have people gathering around a fire in the winter with their hands wrapped tightly around a steaming cup of cocoa. Not much goes on in this town and it is not quite what someone would call a vacation destination, but there is indeed something special about this town. This special characteristic is the way religion connects and creates a family out of the majority of people who live in this town.…

I found the ride was challenging but fun. There was a mixture of different colors of leave and people in bright color outfits. By the end I was tired and the last hill was really hard. I loved being about to see my classmates and friends helping their community. I have been at Tallulah Falls School since I was in sixth grade and this ride gave me the opportunity to help someone else have the same experiences that i have had.…

In the fifth grade during spring break my family and I decided to go to Clifty Falls and walk around in the caves and on the walking trails. I had told my mom I was having trouble breathing that morning and wanted to stay home, but of course she would not let me because it was a”family event. ” We were there long enough to eat lunch and travel down a path to a waterfall and on the way back we decided to stop in one of the caves. About that time I felt my chest tightening up and knew that this was a bad idea to go into a damp cave when all I wanted to do was to go home and sleep.…

Being born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, I have been afforded the privilege of witnessing the Great Falls of Paterson my whole life. I have visited the Great Falls many times throughout my life. When I was young with my parents, whether it was for a day in the sun or for a festival. I grew up appreciating this magnificent work of nature, I also took a part in cleaning up the falls, both as a volunteer and as a member of the Paterson Youth Council and Urban Youth Corps. I have brought my family to the falls to help with the clean ups, from my sisters, to my cousins, to my youngest nephews, and those memories stick to me to this day.…

I once went on a hike on the Appalachian Trail with my mother. We set off and it started to rain on the first day, and my mom began to complain. By the end of the day, I wanted to jump off the mountain before I pushed her off it. Suffice to say, we were not well-suited hiking partners, due to our different processes; my mother dealt with her grievances by talking about the cold. On the other hand, I was just as miserable, but I attempted to ignore the dismal weather.…

In a valley surrounded by mountains lies a small town known as Idaho Falls, where I lived in the same house for the majority of my life. The area is dominantly LDS contributing to the extremely conservative views accepted by the majority of the population. Growing up in a sheltered community I really had no first-hand experience of the realities of the rest of the world major crimes were rarely heard of, I don’t recall ever having witnessed any sort of racism or segregation. By the time I was sixteen I was well traveled, my family went on yearly trips to different countries, thus I considered myself cultured in the ways of the world. I was naïve in believing that the rest of the country would have the same fundamental beliefs that I had grown…

Despite the overwhelming elegance, my fragrance hand lotion, though it had a scent of freshly peeled oranges that smelled outstandingly primitive that morning, seemed to be engaging every mosquito and gnat in the beautiful Amicalola Falls. I was turning into a big, itchy, rainbow red mosquito bite. The black bugs kept crawling up my pale skin, trying to get a taste of my precious blood. I kept swinging my arms around furiously, trying to smack them all off. “Samantha!”…
