I am two parts of two cultures, but still American. Born in England, I was raised as English with many influences from American figures in my life. Despite all of this I am still as American as those born and raised in the heart land. America is one great melting pot where all are formed into new members of a greater society. We are no different than Bill Gates, Donald Trump, and Spencer Hutchins, all True Americans. We are all Americans, diverse but optimistic. We are loving patriots. We are leaders. As Americans, we have equal opportunity and, even under oppression, we remain optimistic and eagerly look toward the future, chasing our dreams. As mentioned prior America's soldiers are the poster representation of leaders, for each and every soul on the battlefield presses on lifting each one of their brothers up charging this legion of leaders into battle, as John F. Kennedy once said, “The cost of freedom is always high, but Americans have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender, or submission” (John). As a leader one takes action when life seems hard or impossible, a leader “takes the path less traveled”(Robert Frost) forging their way into new realms of understanding and behind them are a mass of leaders soon to be. For, each American is a leader by their own definition growing overtime. additionally, In America it is vastly seen that its citizens and outgoing aiming to and and stand out, for, {“Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men, whose labors and posterity will one day change the world”(Hector, 29)}. America is often referred to as the melting pot, for an american is not a single race of people but a mixing bowl of cultural backgrounds, and from this are born new leaders. As an individual travels here for the first time they look forward and find a way to “melt into” this new society and grow in their development to become the greatest leader they can be with their new

Buchanan, he argues that Americans need a common identity based upon ancestry and culture to survive as a country. On the other hand, an article entitled ‘What Does It Mean to Be an “American”?’ by Michael Walzer argues that America does not need a common identity.…

It never really sunk into me how much veterans sacrifice for us. I think that we need to show as much respect to people that have served in the military forces to make us be able to be free. Or be able to pursue whatever we would like to.…

Let me go back to when it all began I jolted awake as a blood curdling howl pierced the bitter cold air. What started out as a seemingly relaxed hiking trip turned into 3 days of pure, adreneline driven, survival, when a pack of ravenous, blood-thirsty gray wolves started hunting me. I thought I had lost them when I jumped 3 and a half meters across an almost bottomless ravine going a mile in either direction. I don't know how they caught up to me, but now was not the time to think about that.…

Throughout time the diversity of the United States of America and the country’s ability tp bring people together has been hailed as one of its crowning achievements. Proud patriots of the country would boast that America is a place where everyone can achieve their “American Dream” and find the life that everyone(supposedly) seeks. While this idea sounds nice in theory, in practice, things are not always as they seem. Certain authors, like Whitman, celebrate the United States of America for its diversity and for the vibrant culture where he believes that all can be interconnected and prosper. Meanwhile, other authors, such as Allen Ginsberg are skeptical of the boastings of true diversity and see America in a much more critical perspective in terms of its diversity, or lack thereof.…
