Being an INFJ female leader in the military goes against many of the established social norms that are ingrained in our military warrior ethos. Military leaders are taught from an early age to fight and win without giving much regard to introversion, intuitiveness, and feeling. In fact, the only acceptable trait that I seem to possess as military leader is that of judging. My persona fights an epic battle every day as I feel the pressures of having to force myself to be extroverted and to lean towards thinking versus feeling each day that I serve. This has forced me to be one person at home and another person at work. During my time in the Army, I have had plenty of obstacles, one in particular would be when I was a RTO (radio tech operator) and we were attached to another battalion to go raid a village. We patrolled all night until we walked twelve miles to our location avoiding helicopters flying in the sky looking for us. My squad only had about nine of us, so we were not initially part of the main element to go in and assault the village. However, as we started creeping up to the first obstacle, a fence, helicopters started patrolling for us again.…

Servant Leadership: Leading the Way to a More Just and Caring World Amberlie Silva Denver School of Nursing Servant Leadership: Leading the Way to a More Just and Caring World Throughout history, leadership has been portrayed as the sole responsibility of select individuals that were chosen through circumstance or job title to do and achieve great things (Rogers, 2009). This concept of leadership implies that decisions are made to the betterment of those in powerful positions and not to serve the needs of an entire organization. Before I came to Kisling Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), I thought of myself as a good leader with certain traits and aspects. I believe that if I take care of my airmen, that they’ll take care of me by completing work orders, squadron objectives, or any future events without question. It wasn’t until I attended NCOA, that I was able to put concept names to the leadership traits that I had. For example, I would put aside my self-interest for the good of the work center because I wanted my guys to know that I have their best interest at heart.
