Personal Narrative-Accelerated Reading

I used to always read all time when I was younger, during dinner, free time or anywhere that I could possibly get a place to read. There was something about books to me when I was reading them, like video games but with books. For hours, I would just sit down and read until I was told to do something or until I was done with the book. For example, Geronimo Stilton, a series of books I loved when I was younger back in sixth grade, which I would sit down and finish 5 books in a matter of a few hours. Then I was introduced to no illustration books, which I was not cooperative with reading with until I read Rick Riordan’s books. The Heroes of Olympus, Kane Chronicles, the famous Percy Jackson series, and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard. All of those books, I read until I had to wait months for a new one to come out. …show more content…
It didn’t stop me from adding a few extra comics when I went to get other books although. Then came the period where I was full on addicted to reading, from fourth to sixth grade, reading as much as I could to take Accelerated Reading tests to earn points for reading. It was one of my favorite times when I could read without being forced to for schoolwork or educational purposes but for my own purposes as entertainment, living in my own world without being bothered. As a result, all my reading couldn’t just be stored in my mind, so I started writing my own stories about demigods fighting evil, a soldier in war, a person running a newspaper, survival stories and anything else that was interesting for a 11 year old boy. Writing was something that I thought was very free flowing, to write whatever you want on paper out of your mind. I wasn’t a very good writer although, usually needing a lot of

Having been homeschooled for the first twelve years of my life, I had a rather untraditional childhood. While my friends were required to go to school from 6:20 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon, I was at home studying or on a field trip to some relevant lecture, the library, or a museum. Because of this less rigid environment, I usually had a lot of time available to me in addition to my school time. Using this excess time for my own personal interests, I developed a penchant for reading at an early age.…

I always read as a kid. I was the small boy who plowed through books day and night, my mom scrambling to and from the library just to keep up with me. The only thing fixated on my mind was reading a new book and being totally captivated by the plot. Since then, I read less and less, sometimes going months without finishing a book. I feel sad that I spend less and less days staying up to midnight just to read one ... more … page.…

I would love to go to the library, go to bookstores, or when I would go into a store I would always pick up a book or magazine and start reading. I still do really love reading, but I hardly have any time to anymore, my schedule is school, practice, home, homework, then sleep. But when I do have free time I try to read a book. This year I have only read two and a half books, usually I read five books in one year. Next year I plan to read at least five again because when I read an article in Mrs. Santana’s class,…

Now I could lie and make up stuff that made me like reading and writing but I see no point in that. Honestly I don’t have a lot of memories of reading and writing from when I was a little kid and I can tell you now that football hasn’t helped me at remembering those memories either. With that being said I do remember some memories, some are good and also bad.…

By adding up the amount of pages that I read and dividing it by eighteen my answer is 75 pages per week. I saw an improvement in my reading because the number of pages I read in a week had increased. I am quite satisfied and this motivates me to read more. I want to tighten up my gear and raise it to at least 100 pages per week in order to achieve my wish. Usually I would have read books that are around 100 to 200 pages, but this time it is longer than usual.…

Reading Literacy Narrative When I was a child, nobody has ever read to me. My father was too busy working, and my mom used to tell me stories by heart, not reading it from books. One day, when I will have my own children, I will definitely be reading to them. I want them be able to listen and start building desire to read on their own later on in their lives. I have not done a good job in my past when it comes to reading books.…

I like to believe that when I write for mainly school I'm a good writer because I spend lots of time to actually figure out what I'm going to say, it's not easy to just have a topic and go off that. I feel as if I'm an average writer, someone who writes at least monthly but doesn't want to write everyday. One time when I was in the 5th grade we had a program called young author where you got to create a story and you had to put it in a book. You also had to color pictures in it. Basically a children's book…

To be honest I don't remember learning to read. It just seems like I've always known how to. I don't remember the struggle and determination little kids have trying to pronounce words that I can say with just a snap of my finger. It seems like reading is something I've always known how to do. If it's something I've known for awhile why don't I engage in this activity more?…

Reading was something I was practically raised on as a child. My dad made sure that my younger sister and I were read to every single night before he tucked us in, passing down a tradition that he believed had aided in shaping his own childhood. I distinctly remember my simple mind roaming along in the lands of Narnia and Middle Earth as such books instilled in me a restless sense of adventure and a longing to learn. This longing drove me to read more and more on my own, all the while my father continued to read to me at a higher and more complex level, that at the time seemed unattainable. Yet books to me were journies completely separate from my own world and I could never seem to envision them as anything more than a source of entertainment.…

    Motivation For Writing

Personally, reading is not a task that is prominent in my life. This summer, however, I was able to read two books, Room and Out of My Mind, because I, as previously stated, spent a large portion of my summer at a camp in which the usage of cell phones was prohibited. Through this experience, I determined that although I do enjoy sitting down and getting enveloped by the plot and characters of a book, I can never find time to do so. Still, those few times that I have been able to experience a book similar to the previous, I have felt the pleasure of being purely relaxed and distant from the real world. Despite that nearly all novels assigned to be read in school are for the greater part uninteresting, some are actually intriguing and memorable.…

What vivid moments do you experience when reading, writing, or activities that involved them? Or what frustrated you about reading and writing? My experience with reading and writing start with my teacher from elementary all the way up to my teachers in high School, Ripley, Tennessee school district, and University of Memphis. My teachers during school remind me about the things I must do for class more than my college professors. In Ripley, Tennessee their district held up high standard on students with reading and writing.…

During all of my academic experience, I have always exceled in both the English and Spanish Language Arts. As a young child I felt a need to immerse my head into books. While my peers discussed the new cartoon episodes all I could seem to talk about were the plots of the thick chapter books that I placed back on my bookshelf once I had finished reading them. In fact, I was not the type of kid that spent hours in front of a television set I have always preferred to discover a whole new world in pages attached to one another inside a hard cover. It is a mystery to me how I could mentally live something that I never actually physically lived.…
