Personal Narrative: A Trip To Washington D. C.

We were on the road for hours riding in circles, to get to our destination, but it was the one night my friends and I will never forget. It was Saturday August 29, 2015 and I was in Washington D.C. with my three friends: Leia, Kerien, and Breanna. We stayed at the Hostel Hotel downtown on 11th street. We stayed there for three nights and four days. The scary part for us when we were in the lobby and we found out what a Hostel hotel was, we then heard that the rooms were dormitory style with bunk beds, for example if there were 4 of us in a room and we had a total of 6 beds, this meant that 2 strangers could stay in our room. We also had to share a bathroom with the entire 4th floor and shared a kitchen area to cook our meals. These hotels are known to be cheap.
It was 8:30 at night; we were talking to our friends, playing around at the pool table, and listening to music. We were all tired from walking around the city. We gathered up our belongings and walked up the stairs together . Then 10 minute Leia’s mom came into our room and informs us not to go outside the room, because she will be downstairs cleaning up the kitchen from dinner. Leia asked, “Why”

Now it was 12 o'clock at night when Kerien asked me to go with to the bathroom, so I got up, and then I woke up Breanna to let her know where we were, Leia was still asleep. As Kerien & I were walking down the hall we heard a BANG! We turned our heads around so fast that we could’ve broken our necks. Our hearts were beating, almost out of our chest, as we were standing in the middle of the hallway. Kerien and I turned back around to go to the room but, the door was locked as someone was holding it from the other side. We were banging, yelling, and kicking the door, as it had no feelings, It happened again, BANG! It wasn't in the hallways anymore it moved to our room. Kerein mumbled as she stepped

We had cabin 4, out of about 10 cabins and a lodge. The lodge was the only place with civilized area, with tv, internet, and a store as bare as the Arctic. All they have is a small vending machine, and some clothes racks that hold sweatshirts and other memorabilia. The main point of our vacation was to go fishing, so we had brought our grandparents boat. We were fishing most of the day.…

I was drowning out the world with the music playing through my phone, twirling the headphone cord around my finger. My hand brushed across the paper as I erased some pencil markings. I observed the text on the brightly lit screen of my chromebook, searching for the answers to the questions on my homework. I stared at the screen with a look of confusion on my face. Little did I know that the next few moments would put my hard work to some use.…

I wish the American Ideal was true in a perfect fairy tale world it would be but in reality it is very far from being true many people want to pretend everyone has the same opportunity because of the great opportunities they have had in their life. I guess to not have to face the reality people would rather pretend it does not exist rather than to be a voice of change. Even still today people of different ethnicities are still being discriminated against even if they are over qualified because of many racial stereotypes. Additionally everyone does not have the same level playing field educational opportunities nor vital networking connections.…

Not everyone can say they carry a map of where they live wherever they go. This is one of the few perks that come with residing in the Mitten State: I can whip out my hand anytime and point to exactly where I’m from. For the past eighteen years, I’ve built a life in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a conservative, affluent community where everything seems perfect. For eighteen years, I’ve covered imperfections, censored thoughts, and allowed my light to be dulled. I may not have lived anywhere else yet, but the real-world is out there waiting -- and I’m ready for it.…

I, as well as the rest of America, have multiple responsibilities to America. She has given me freedom, rights, and liberties, that citizens elsewhere do not have. I have the freedom to present my opinion, vote for my leaders, and freedom to practice my own religion with protection to do so. These rights, along with many others, were not given to me for free. Many courageous men and women have died in order for me to have these rights.…

My Vision For America I feel America would be a better place if more money was granted for the development of better technology for the greater good, in all, a more advanced technology would allow for cheaper and more healthier foods, homes and other services. Better technology will open up hardly what seems a finite choice of new opportunities for safety, prosperity and the general wellfare of the environment. New technology can bring on, not just physical changes, but also of that of the human consciousness, with new ideas and intriguing philosophy to give people a new outlook of the world for change of the better, for simularities to oppose differences, for peace to victor over war and ultimately for Americans to help make the world a better place, not just for us, our country and our children, but for all of us. I see fit for conditions of the environment to be properly taken care of so that clean air, ground and water can be accessed to all. These projects of terraformation would add prodigiously to the overall state of Americans, sparking more cheerfull and stressless lives.…
