I care about music, television, and movies; sometimes I like to look for a deep message that most people overlook. I love the human will to survive when pushed to the limits; everyone has an instinct to survive.…

The first Broadway musical I enjoyed was Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I was about thirteen years old. It was more elaborate than the small performances at Disney World. There was more music, elaborate set designs, and more seats in theater. I was very impressed by the singing and actors ability to flow through the material.…

Adrenaline ran through my veins all day, and Disney references spilling out of my mouth like a broken record in a player. No one else accepted my elation, but I on the other hand, had a countdown down for this jaunt as soon as I heard of it in August. As I sat down on the dirty, sweaty gym floor like the rest of the band, I began to process everything that was happening. In 26 hours, 48 minutes, and 28 seconds, according to my countdown, the entire high school band would be in Orlando, Florida. In four days time, our provincial marching band would be featured marching in a parade in the Magic Kingdom of the happiest place on earth!…

One of the many things I have learned in my short sixteen years is that everyone is unique in a way that is exclusive to them. Everyone has special hobbies, activities, or patterns their life revolves around. My life revolves around spending time talking with family and friends, learning new things, going school, listening music, writing poetry, reading, painting, and of course work. These are just a few of the things I am writing about in this essay. I would also add that without these key parts my life would be exceptionally dull.…

The road most people in my community go down you shouldn't expect me to writing this. My family doesn't have the most money in the world and we don't have the most opportunities here. My hometown is one of the poorest in the country and many people would expect me to just quit school and get a job to support my family, but that was not the case with me. I pushed myself to achieve something greater than what others around me have done. I didn't want to fall into the stereotype that because I am part Mexican I’m lazy or just another trouble maker because I'm not that!…
