Personal Narrative: A Trip To New York City

Improved Essays
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and looking at the skyline of New York City (NYC) at night time was something I had always dreamed of seeing. One of my dreams came true when I was able to take my two daughters to New York City to experience this with me. They would see the sights on television and always say how much they want to go, so I decided to make that happen for them, not just once, but twice. Each one of our trips were 10 days in length and still not enough time to absolutely see everything we wanted to. If you know me, you understand that I plan everything down to the last detail so it was very important that we did not hit any bumps in the road during these trips. There is so much to do and of course you want to do everything, …show more content…
The lights in the city were so mesmerizing and put you in a trance and you just want to get out and explore the city at all hours of the day. Having Times Square right outside the lobby entrance was amazing and everything is at your disposal and within arms reach. It was a must to visit the famous Broadway Plays and take in a play or two.

What is a trip to NYC with a visit to the infamous and glorious Statue of Liberty. Standing on Liberty Island and looking across New York Harbor you can't help but remember what she stands for and the freedom that she gives us. Taking a boat ride to Ellis Island and being able to see the book that was signed by the immigrants as they came across was definitely a wonderful lesson for my daughters to hear and learn about.

Standing on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building and overlooking NYC is awesome. Everyone literally looks like little ants running around. It is a complete 360º view of the city and Central Park. You can see everything from up here and you never want to

There are stores galore on each and every corner. We visited the M&M's store and on the outside digital display, it showed the M&M characters. Walking into the store you are brought into a silly phase and just want to run to the closest thing and touch everything you can. So much to see and buy. There is a Hershey's Store around the block and the smell of chocolate hits you as you are walking up to the front door. It's like you stepped into a chocolate factory. Kind of wonderful and overwhelming all at the same time. One of the best parts of shopping was going to the Disney Store one morning as it was fixing to open. You stand outside waiting to get in, then the employees come out and choose one child to be given a key to the store and honorary opener for the day. I am proud to say that my youngest daughter was chosen that day and was given a replica key to the store after greeting the customers and opening with a bigger version of the key. The Disney Store was three stories worth of everything you can imagine. You can't help but spend some money in this store. Coming from a regular size town in Texas, our Toys R Us is just a normal store and nothing spectacular. The Toys R Us on Times Square has a actual running Ferris wheel inside the store. You have to take a ride for no other reason than you

At Pearl Harbor we embarked on a boat to the sunken wreckage of the USS Arizona, a Navy ship that was bombed during the attack. We walked through museums and exhibitions, learning more about the attack, the causes and effects, and the destruction. At a memorial we saw the names of all who died that day and paid respect to them. After that, we headed down to the capital of Hawaii, Honolulu. The city defied my expectations that I had set.…

New York otherwise known as the “Big Apple” is home to approximately 19.7 million people. In a closer lense, New York City is home to 8.4 million people. Everytime I go to New York I always spot the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center. For seven summers I went to Camp Matoaka in Maine, each year I would return to the same smiling faces. These familiar faces were always close to my heart, however they were not always in reach.…

I saw some pretty big buildings and a lot of city traffic. Once we finished riding around Seattle we went back to Zoe’s house we had to get on a fairy boat which was about a 50 minute boat ride to Burmington the town she lives in. The view from the boat facing towards Seattle was really pretty it reminded me to the time I went to New York. When we had got off the fairy boat we went to the car and as we were driving up and down hills my ears were plugging in I wasn’t used to the drops. We went to many places there, and for the first time I was actually good at Bowling time flew by and whole week past.…

I finally saw the the beautiful sun for the first time without having to bend my head back as far as I could since I had been in New York. It shone down brightly, warming my skin and glimmering off the glass of the skyscrapers in the near distance. I could finally feel the soft breeze wrap around me and not get deflected from the buildings. I watched the people from the city enter the park and watched as their city attitudes give way to the magical ambiance of the park. I closed my eyes and took it all in, and I could’ve stayed on top of that rock for…
