Once again we are home from a 2 week vacation in Mt. Pleasant, SC... After we unpack the suitcases, and greet the neighbors who are curiously watching our every move, it time to start inside and see what has developed since we’ve been gone. In an effort to keep the peace with the inquisitive onlookers, you advise them that there will be time to get together later on after you are settled in from the exhausted trip. Upon entering the front door you notice from the beginning things are not what they seem. The bathroom didn’t smell like this when we left for vacation 2 weeks ago. Now will be the

I was driving down Montana 28. Legally Blonde was blaring through my speakers as I looked at the beautiful scenery. I was only 2 hours from Glacier National Park, which sounded like nothing after my grueling 10 hours leading up to that point. Suddenly my car slowed to a stop. I couldn’t go above 3 mph.…

We left Courthouse Rock one day later and we traveled fourteen miles to Chimney Rock. We didn't stop there. We just drove right by. This formation was named Chimney Rock because it looks like a chimney stack for a factory or a chimney from a burned down house. When we left to go to Fort Laramie a bolder fell on one of the wheels of our wagon.…

Every summer as tradition dictates I take my cousins on a hiking trip. Every year we try to hike a different mountain for the day and this year four of us went to hike Mt. Tecumseh in NH. This year was particularly an amazing experience as it was great to spend the day with them all together before I had to go to college. I also got to utilize my iPhone’s camera to its full potential to take amazing photographs (which is a new hobby of mine).…

In the fifth grade during spring break my family and I decided to go to Clifty Falls and walk around in the caves and on the walking trails. I had told my mom I was having trouble breathing that morning and wanted to stay home, but of course she would not let me because it was a”family event. ” We were there long enough to eat lunch and travel down a path to a waterfall and on the way back we decided to stop in one of the caves. About that time I felt my chest tightening up and knew that this was a bad idea to go into a damp cave when all I wanted to do was to go home and sleep.…

My story happens in a boondocks town in south-eastern rustic Kentucky. It's a residential area that you've probably never become aware of – its residents peppering the mountainsides here and there. It's the sort of town where it isn't precisely remarkable to discover neighbors wheeling and dealing for products with domesticated animals and administrations, living off what the area gives, and by and large making do with what they've got. It was here that my father was raised. It is here that my father raised his gang.…

I once went on a hike on the Appalachian Trail with my mother. We set off and it started to rain on the first day, and my mom began to complain. By the end of the day, I wanted to jump off the mountain before I pushed her off it. Suffice to say, we were not well-suited hiking partners, due to our different processes; my mother dealt with her grievances by talking about the cold. On the other hand, I was just as miserable, but I attempted to ignore the dismal weather.…

There are no trails in Florida that will adequately prepare you for the Appalachian Trail. Not just the difficulties, but the beauty as well. When I made the decision to do a section hike with my friend Brian, I had a vague idea that it would be difficult and rewarding, but I had no idea just how much of an understatement that was. The first day began with a shuttle ride to our start point, thirty-five miles from Hot Springs, North Carolina, where we'd left our car.…

Last minute trips with the girls seem to always be fun, especially going somewhere I have never been before. The Simple Life at Virtue Hill One of the most beautiful places to visit is the Virtue Hill in Vietnam. I grew up there, and I return year after year to seek the solitude. Virtue Hill is the name of a boarding school and means “God Place.” One of the most picturesque sites is looking up the hill from the village road. The view is spectacular with the school at the top, and the green, fertile farmland below.…

I was able to spend at least twenty hours in a 1st grade classroom at Beaver Run Elementary school over the past couple months. It has been a wonderful experience and has shown me a lot of great examples of what we have been reviewing and learning in class. I have turned this into a personal field trip by taking note of the many different and educational experiences that have been going on within my first grade classroom. I have gone through what we have learned in ELED 304 and picked some of the vocab and terms that have been shown or expressed during my personal field trip.…
