The image I can’t get out of my head was how tired, unhealthy, and curved my back was. I was constantly having appointments with a doctor or specialist. I missed a lot of school and spent a lot of time in bed. My story really begins in February 2012 when I had spinal cord surgery at Children’s Hospital in Seattle. I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was young but in February the curve of my spine was at 47 degrees, I was sent for an MRI that showed I had a tethered cord. My surgery was scheduled within a few days. When I woke up in recovery I saw bright lights and I thought I was dead! I was mumbling “Not now Memaw I’m not ready to go to heaven!” The nurse said you’re okay honey you’re in recovery. After my first surgery my curve was at 30 degrees. …show more content…
I went for my 15 month check-up and my curve was at 57 degrees. Dr. Krengel my Orthopedic Doctor in Seattle always said that at 50 degrees surgery was required. Dr. Krengel in Seattle said if we came back to Seattle he would have the surgery done in August. My family discussed everything and decided that Mom would quit her job, we would give up our home and we would return to

Life itself had changed I wasn’t so amped or hype for nothing only wonder what I would do. Of course school still I had more love then I expected coming back to school after missing a few days walking with a crutch realizing already how it’s a gift to play football, and have nothing disabling you from playing. I felt different just watching things in a chair sitting down where I would normally be running around skipping school at this time. Just sitting in one class the whole day to avoid walking. These things where already changing my outlook slowly as I gained patients, especially since I had no choice with a big knee brace on I wasn’t deciding anything fast.…

Before I went to the hospital my family and friends tried really hard to keep me calm before this big endeavor that would change my life forever. One of the things they did was talk to my pastor at my church about blessing me before the surgery. My priest blessed me by saying in a holy voice, “Please God protect Emily from all harm during this surgery, and please be with her during this hard experience.” Another wonderful gesture my family did for me was put on a birthday party, since my birthday was only a couple days after my surgery when I would be still recovering. After the celebration came to a close I went upstairs to go to bed, but before I fell asleep my mother came into the room with a gloomy look on her face.…

A traveler taps the side of the vehicle to board, pays, rides and then taps to jump off at a desired destination. I noticed the adult sitting uncomfortably, a towel wrapping his foot, as his eyes scanned around the room.…
